It's extremely strange when not playing as dwarves, though.

As for seasonal music, i would ask you for log files, otherwise i have no starting point as for what might cause it.

I hadn't thought of that.  If it recurs, I'll have a log for you.

Hi there,
I searched, but can't find any solution to this problem.. I just tried to run the soundSense.sh under Ubuntu, v11.04, but keep getting an error:

Code: [Select]
root@s-qna:~/Pulpit/Dwarf Fortress/soundsense$ sh soundSense.sh
soundSense.sh: 12: Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting "then")

Of course I fixed the file, and changed "/urs/bin/aoss/" to "/usr/bin/aoss"

Any advice?

zwei, the new mirror (.au) may be missing: rdriftwood- hey di lee hi

Gives a code 400 for me.

(EDIT)
Also for:
Frost Waltz (alternate)
radakan - moldan chase over (success)

That seems to be it.

Imagined this playing when I read the latest Devlog:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3oTW_uflzE

I think that soundsense could use some specific siege music. Shouldn't be too hard for anyone to add, but I think it should be bundled with the main version. Got any ideas for tracks?

I tried doing that, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a logfile entry for when a siege ends, and Soundsense glitched and wouldn't play regular music afterwards.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

I set mine up so that it would switch back to the seasonal music on the season end.  It worked well enough, since seiges only happen on the last month of each season, and in my games at least they are usually over by the season change.

I don't remember how exactly I did it though.  I think I just made the files use the music channel.  But yea there is no actual message for the end of the sieges.  One of the reasons I suggested some optional DFhack call so it can check for that kind of stuff if enabled a month or so back, but I don't know the feasibility of such a thing.

Also actual "A vile force of darkness has arrived" sieges don't put anything to the log, so soundsense doesn't pick those up either.  Have to run those manually.

That guitar riff at 2:17 is epic...

I agree with your caveats about consistency, zwei. Maybe we can get Toady's permission to use his original recordings as themes, and then build around them. Think about the evolution of the Elder Scrolls songs, for instance. Started with Morrowind's flute instrumental, went to orchestra in Oblivion and an epic choir in Skyrim. You recognize the "core melody", but it's set in different speeds, creating different emotional effects etc. Well, whatever.

I have a high quality sound recorder and a guitar, but I also have a horrific IRL schedule. But hey, maybe we can get a sticky for "dump your original DF music here in ogg format" and just leave make it a free-for-all for a couple of months? No pressure, right?

Hey y'all. Well, it's been four months and I finally got to writing and recording a song today. I was a bit lazy with the recording and I'm no audio techie, so apologies to the audiophiles. My friend says it sounds too Arabian Nights, so maybe it's fitting for a desert fortress?

I decided to call this one (puts on pretentiousness-hat ::) ) "Encounter":

It's really just a sample track to see if I get some responses, but it's 100% purely dedicated to Toady, Threetoe, you folks and the cat-eating, elf eye socket-pissing, STONE guitar playing dwellers of the mountain homes.

Also check out Toadese Language Utility to read and write DF dwarven texts (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=136098). Bang the tankards!

Have to say that is really mellow and goes extremely well with the game.

It has a rather mesmerizing, odd tune to it. Certainly suits the game.
