Yes, worldgen music is copyrighted and due to replacement if we get decent source of music that does not have copyright problems.

I looked over newgrounds and there is lot of it that could be used, there are other places too (incompetech which we used in the beginings).

If anyone is willing to do some research and compile new unecumbered playlist for seasons, it can be easily icorporated.

K I've done some digging on incompetech, i'm not sure what you meant by "unencumbered", but I found some possible candidates, actually I think 60% of the music in that site could be dumped in soundsense and it would work, they're pretty good.

I tried to keep some sorta theme going for each season, like more uplifty for spring, aggressive for summer, somber for fall and calm for winter, not sure if I accomplished that though, I didn't browse through the entire thing, I'm pretty sure there are more awesome music in there.

Some of those are quite short, if you want longer loops for any of em I could give it a try.

Also is it possible to have a different music going when a siege starts and then have it return to the normal playlist when it's over? the same could be used for combat in adventurer mode, that is if it's possible at all.

All of them are by mr. Kevin MacLeod btw if you wanna add him to the credits, if you use any of the music of course.

Just wanted to say, I've been using this mod for like a month now and I don't know as I'll be able to go back- I feel better about leaving DF in the background while boring parts of the fortress year go by, because I know I can get an audio alert for anything requiring my immediate attention. When I say this is a "must-have" for me, I'd like to point out that I do not use Dwarf Therapist or any other utilities, so you know I'm serious.

If there was a better way to distinguish sparring noises from actual combat, that would be good, but mostly I'm just posting for the kudos.

1. It is trivial to mod. I hope :-)
2. Dunno. Some modders asked for advice, but i am not aware if they added soundpacks to their mods.

Sparring can be identified by "lighly tapping" - real combat is usually more bloody than that. Other - don't think so.

I mean unecumbered as in having licence that allows redistribution for free. Usually CC stuff like mr. MacLeod does fits that description.

I can not detect end of siege, so i just play siege track once and that is it. For adventurer mode, i can not even detect start of combat unless it is ambush.

Thanks for that list, I will try to narrow it down to about four tracks per season.

You know what'd be awesome? Rainseeker doing all those announcements in his dwarfy voice.

Get all the guys in the podcast to record a bunch of commentary for each of the events, enough that getting the same recording a few times in near proximity would be rare. Not necessarily reading the event text (or some analogue of it), but commentary.

Clearly it wouldn't be very good at matching the mood of the overall game--at least without a chatterbot and dfhack--and it'd be a metric ton of work for little real reward, since you'd get used to all the recordings pretty quick, but it could, on occasion, be hilarious.

Rhapsody (or Rhapsody of Fire, whatever). 

Might have to find lyrics yourself though.  I think the name of the song is Village of Dwarves, but I haven't kept up with the band for awhile.

This pack clearly took lots of time and skill, and even though I found the default sounds to be incredibly annoying to the point of not using this program, I'd still recommend it to any person who wanted sound, and I will for sure tell my soon-to-be-playing friend that Soundsense is the best sound program for DF out there.

I've been getting into Dwarf Fortress again and I found this on the Lazy Newb Pack (Im not a newb, but lazy when it comes to applying tile-sets). This is pretty awesome. Although the main music is pretty good (and strangely fuels the addiction), the music and sound effects bring much more depth and feeling to the game. I love it!

Strange that I've never heard of this feature before. I love it, it keeps me playing longer than usually. Like other said before it brings more depth into DF and is helpful in certain moments. Just thought I leave a minimal comment in appreciation. Keep up the good work.

Killing off sound in youtube videos is unacceptable, so...

Yeah, for next version, music will be replaced with something that will not trigger copyright police, per some research few psts above.
