Hi, not sure if this question has been asked before, but for some reason I can't connect to zwei's main website and was wondering: are there were any other places to get sound packs? How do I make my own?

I think it's pretty much all on his website. As for making your own, http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Utility:SoundSense#Customization is a good place to start. Also, this: http://df.zweistein.cz/soundsense/packSkeletons.zip  But again, that's on his website. A bit odd that you can't connect. Is the program's AutoUpdater failing, or are you trying to download it manually, or both?

I am trying to manually download from his website. Changing browsers doesn't work, and I don't think it's my router because people on the same network can still access the website. I am curious if I could get the IP address somehow and type that in to see if it resolves it. Maybe someone could download it then host it on Github or Dropbox for me?

I accidentally applied Soundsense to Index.txt instead of Gamelog.txt

WHAT DO.

Open the file configuration.xml. Just change the file after "gamelog path=" :)

The song 'Not as it Seems', who is it from? Is it up on Youtube anywhere? I wanna share it with a friend, just not sure how to find the original source :)

On the face of it, it just looks like an issue with the classpath. I can't think of much that's been added in JDK7 that'd be necessary for SS, or at least shouldn't be for what it does. I don't have a MacOS handy though besides the work laptop, and I find it such a painful OS to bother getting it out. What's the classpath look like?

NVM - i'll save you the brain-pain.  I tried latest Dwarf Builder version and it seems to work OK.  Unsure what my problem was before.

Hi, I found out about SS from Plaidman's DwarfBuilder app - it creates a little application bundle to launch the .jar file, store the files, etc. It does 'work' (r35) on mac os 10.6.8 - using java 1.6.0_33. The problem is that it works for a while, then peters out and or crashes.
  • Music is generally pretty consistent, though sometimes it will not get louder again after lots of small sounds - e.g. a battle.
  • The list of concurrent sounds gradually builds up - they are not being cleared
  • Sounds will skip, cut out, or glitchily repeat
  • Eventually, it crashes - possibly tries to send it to a channel that's not there?
I wish that I knew enough java to fix this, but I don't even know how to build SS from the source that's included, so that won't go anywhere fast. It seems strange that this would be fixed by a more recent java version, if it's the applet that is getting overloaded with concurrent sounds - not clearing them out.

If I can help at all, eg crashlogs, etc, PM me :)

Is it to late to add more tracks to Soundsense? Or do you get them yourself?

It's never too late, man. I also made the Simon Swerwer Soundsense Fun Pack last night. You can get it at these places:

Well in that case I believe that this will make a great addition. Or at least fast-travelling as a vampire.

Edit: I meant all this to be directed to the actual sound sense, not your package (Poonyen)-

Has the contents of the sound pack been recently changed?

I last played a year ago, and just re-downloaded and there were many old songs that appear to be missing and replaced with songs from a composer named kevin macleod. Does anyone have a list of the old songs or a download link?

@zwei

I made a rar with all the mp3s and uploaded it to dropbox, so then you can choose the ones you want to include:
