body part weapons
« on: June 27, 2010, 04:21:11 am »

My adventurer has in his posession the middle finger of the Ettin Lesana MassiveControl the sculpture of actions.
My question? How good are bodypart weapons this release? Because I want to give the world the finger!

Also: what does it take to get an improvised weapon Named? My axe has a few hundred kills, and it has no name.

EDIT: So what Misc_Weapon skill weapons does everybody use?

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

Whell thats pretty smart. I know that a corpse is great for bashing cause it can be elastic, therefor being like a slub-lash-hammer thing. btw, how do you equip yourself? i always have to drop the weapon I am holding and then the other one and then the first one I pick up I weild.

Instead of dropping you can just (r)emove the thing you want to wield, but yeah, it's not the simplest method because then you still have to get everything else you're holding back into the bag.

I think since misc. weapons are more of a "blunt" type of weapons, their weight gives quite a factor to their hurting potential. So even if Ettin fingers are bigger than man size, they still lack a bit of punch.

But in the end...use whatever you want, each his/her own style baby...FEAR MY RAT WEAPON, CHEWY McBITESALOT!

Oh, and I think weapon naming is still fortress mode only.

If you lose him in the wound does he kill from the inside out?

Chewy McBitesalot has been lost in muskox's lowerbody
Chewy McBitesalot bites muskox's heart latching on firmly
Chewy McBitesalot bursts out of muskox's upperbody
Chewy McBitesalot holds on firmly to muskox's heart
Muskox gives into pain
Muskox has bleed to death

Aww, you mean that Giant corpse I've been bringing civilizations to their knees with can't be a pseudo-artifact?

I'm going to keep testing. After all, I've gotten good enough to poke out people's livers and things with this finger, testing to see if it eventually gets names is fun!

Hmmm... what if it escapes and you recapture it. Does it remember its kills?
EDIT: for that matter, does the Legends mode list YOU as the killer? or the Rat? or both?
EDIT x 2: If the rat is given the CANLEARN skill, does it gain stats from killing things? I'd test this with one of my BATS (hehe), but currently my adventurer has eaten all of them.

A good weapon I heard of to use is an anvil, the damage is extreme like if you hit someone in the head or throw it and it hits the head it will either completely crush it and the brain into a liquid pullp and kill instantly or knock it clean off and also kill instantly. and even if you hit someone in an arm or body the pain will make them pass out so you can get a couple free hits in aiming for the head.

I tend to use a head, a tooth, an arm, a beetle, or sand.

Well the next release has among other things adv-mode butchering and reactions. I for once will get a unicorn horn coat it in Giant desert scorpion poison (that stuff that melts your flesh like butter in a pan) and then i go to kill some Megabeasts.
