(WIP)Third Age Fortress. HELP needed.

I'm trying to make a major mod featuring various races walk among the middle earth.

as far as I can tell, english is not my native language and I need someone to check if there's any type-o around or any misspellings.

and also, I need some graphics, and I organized them so that it will be much easier for you guys to help me.


Dale ( They will be called Dalsh men and women. They excel in bows. Life span 60 to 80. LOTR wiki entries: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Dale )

weastern Men ( They will be a merge of Gondor, Rohan, and people of Eriador. About the graphics, I think swordsman and maceman should be wearing gondor armor, archers should be wearing the ranger's attire, and spearmans should be in rohan armor. In-game they will be called Westernese. Because i don't think you can differ the civ name and the creature name. It's quite hardcoded. If anyone knows how to change it, post a reply. Mordor, Orks & Goblins of Misty Mountain, uruk-hais ( As far as I can tell, I don't see if there's any reason to seperate them. They will be called simply 'Orcs'. Using caste, their will be Orc, Goblin, Cave troll, Uruk-hai. iron weapons and armors. uses Broad Swords, Halberds, Scimitars, Pikes, Bows. Life span 60 to 100. To be honest, I don't know. Sylvan Elves. ( well, same as the elves already in dwarf fortress. Just some fiddlin' and polishin' required for this mod. Life span? w-ell.. as the original TA canon, they should be immortal, but anyways we don't want those bloody elves to be immortal right?)

Noldor Elves. ( elves with superior knowledge. basically like steel using elves. )

Easternese ( Eastern men. incuding Umbar, Rhun, and Harad. Evil men with moderate weapon and armor. )



well, I 'Do' know the basics of modding, such as reactions, weapons, armors, a bit of creature modding, plants, custom buildings.

But I really look forward working this mod with other modders.

※P.S. I plan to use some of the plants and creatures, ironworks from Deon's genesis. would that be okay?

※P.P.S. Also, Lofn's Tanmod looks quite fascinating. I definately want that mod in my mod.

Ironworks is actually from the maker of another large mod, http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=31157.0

so Meph would be the one to ask about using ironworks, but I'm sure he'll be fine with it if you credit him.

although I'm sure being LOTR a person or two might step up and offer some more help that way.

as for the "Westernese" issue, you could use Castes to fix that little issue, although you should know that you will have mixed cities of the men.

I'd personally split gondor and rohan up, as they have such differant culture and armor..
and for the same reason you should split up the forces of Isengard from Mordor, their equipment is just far too differant.

if you are worried about them warring inbetween eachother, dont be, as long as you put the same morals and ethics in for races, or atleast similar, they will be allied.

I think I clearly said that it will be 'Third Age' Fortress.

and- yes. No Dúnedain in Third age.

On the weastern men, you could create 3 castes. Just an idea.

I'm a fair hand at writing, or so I'm told, and (generally) have a keen eye for finding typos and such. I'll offer my help, and I'm a LotR fan to boot.

Edit: Damn autocorrect on my iPod. Does more harm than good...

Well, Korean. When I say Korean, I mean South Korean.

I'll probably start working on this mod tomorrow.

So I guesss you'll have to wait a bit.

I think Misty Mountain goblins and the Isengarde Uruk-hai should be separate from Mordor Orcs. They were quite different in many ways, and fought each other as often as they did humans. Uruks would be the toughest and have the best equipment, followed by Orcs and then the scrap-scavenging Goblins, who would almost be on the level of Kobolds.
