Kill the first with our knife, and the other with our pistol.

Uhh... there are twelve of them. Uhh.

EDIT: Or do you want to kill your allies? Okay!

This shouldn't be so hard. You've got your two rebel buddies on your side. After whispering their orders to them, you slide into cover behind a stone pillar.
You raise your rifle for the first shot. This close, you can't miss.

The first man in the line yelps in pain and surprise as the heavy rifle shot rips straight through him, leaving a gaping hole in his torso. It end it's path cutting into another loyalist's arm. You drop the rifle and aim with your pistol, no time to reload the cumbersome weapon. Your allies open fire as well.
The loyalists are tightly packed, and both score a hit.

They start firing back, a chunk of the pillar disappearing under the heavy rifle- and pistolfire. The first of two rebels goes down, half of his shoulder missing.

You fire a few shots, bringing down another loyalist. You're quite low on ammo.

You hear one of the loyalists bellow a warcry and charge, but a quick shot from the second rebel fixes that. You fire again, this time scoring a hit in the throat. The remaining rebel takes down another and -

You feel immense pain in your stomach, and look down to see a bloody mess. You collapse on to the floor, into darkness.

---

' Wake up, it isn't that bad! We're gonna fix you, just hang on.'
You open your eyes, and the pain strikes again. You recognize the face above you as the second rebel. He looks terrified.
From the lack of gunfire you guess the loyalists are either dead or gone.
' It was just a glancing hit, you'll be fine, I promise. I'll... I'll go get a doctor, someone to fix you up.'
He runs off to the kitchens. After a while, you let your head sink back onto the floor

'...this one we can save, though. Nothing important was hit. Thank God it was a pistol shot, a rifle would've blown a chunk of her clean off. Do you know her?' Another voice awakens you, a new one.
' Well. She is my sister, so I guess so.'
You force a smile to your lips. This one voice is very familiar to you. You didn't think they'd actually come along to the fighting...
' I can walk' you insist. The pain is still there, but you're sure you can take it.
The doctor shakes his head. ' You'll have to wait until I've treated your wound, miss.'
Your complaints go to deaf ears, and finally you give in and let the doctor do whatever he wants.

A few minutes later, you stand up, and almost fall back to the floor again, but your brother catches you. He grins.
' I have something I need to show Harnen' you say and take a few wavering steps forward. Your brother lets you go, but follows closely behind.

Harnen is quite easy to find, and you see a smile on his face for the first time today. It widens even more when you show him the maps and lists, and turns into a strange mix of joy and frustration when he sees the letter. After reading it for the second time, he sends a few troopers back to the Governor's quarters.

The city is yours. All loyalist troops are either dead or fleeing. Once you get the messengers from the other islands, you'll know how well this revolution has gone otherwise.

Harnen comes up to you and asks how badly you're wounded. They've apparently found a secret path to the tunnels mentioned in the letter in the Governor's quarters, and are gathering troops to explore them.

Will you go with him or stay?

(Get your brother a name, man. Roland is already taken. Also, family fun facts; your parents are loyalists, your sister doesn't really care and your three brothers are all more or less rebels.)

You are in no condition to fight right now. Better just go rest... Colm practically carries you away from there.

---

The next week passes quickly, and boats come informing you of two other victories; Salv, the largest port in the colonies, and Saench, a mining town. In the rest of the colonies, your attempts have failed, though the rebels are still alive and active. The messenger from the island of Arelva brings much graver news, however.
Not only the rebellion failed there completely, with over half of their numbers dead or imprisoned, airships containing experienced continental troops have arrived, along with some famous general.

Salv brought in several intact ships, and the one you captured is sailing their way. Harnen has begun training the rebels at your disposal, but you fear his training methods are scaring away more troopers than they bring in.

Your wound heals quickly with the help of whatever the doctors do to you, though it still hurts every now and then.

You are summoned to Harnen's new office in the palace, where he is already surrounded by his most trusted men. He beckons you to take a look at the map on the table.
You recognize it as one of the maps you found. Someone - probably Harnen - has drawn all over it, symbols and arrows.

'Kraoht, we need to act, now' he points at one specific island on the map, covered in drawings. You realize it's Arelva. ' We're taking all of our seaworthy ships and crushing Arelva. They're not expecting an attack. This will take them by surprise. If we have luck, they won't see us coming, and we'll take out those airships before they get them in the air. I... I want you to lead the second company. Of my trained troops, I mean.' He sighs, and shakes his head. ' I've got three hundred trained men, and just over two thousand untrained men. We don't have time to train the rest. And also, we can only bring in about a thousand of those men, because we don't have enough ships. Stupid bastards burnt them all, even the merchant vessels. Thank God we got more from Salv.' He nods towards a tall, light-haired man in the back of the room, arguing with someone else.

' That's Captain Tomanes, continental Empire navy. Or, well, ex-navy. He's with us now. Sailed his ships away to the sea when the fighting started, saved all six. Too bad the rest of them burned.'

You just smile and nod. Harnen should be giving the job to one of his ex-militia officers, not you, but it's not something you can just turn down.
The plan relies a bit too much on luck, in your opinion. It could fall apart all too easily. If they spotted you before you got close enough, they could get those airships in the air and bomb you all to oblivion. If there were more troops there than Harnen assumed, you'd all be killed anyways. Besides, they were supposed to have an experienced general with them now...

Is there anything you'd like to suggest to the battleplan, or will you just go prepare?

"Maybe we could set up some ships- give them skeleton crews and sail them towards the port baring our flag. then as the islands defences are dealing with those we land on the opposite shore and we attack where they arent expecting it. However we can bring as many people but we will gain the element of surprise."

Harnen shakes his head. ' That's impossible. We simply do not have enough ships. We need them all to transport our men. Besides...' he motions towards the island on the map again. ' That's a big island, and the 'opposite shore' is too far away. We'd just scare their ships into the air with that.'

 Is there anything else or...?

EDIT: Guess not, updating soon-ish

You have to wait until the evening the next day before you are allowed board the Triumph, or, as they now call it, the Lucky Bastard. Your company of about one hundred and sixty men is split in two ships, the Lucky Bastard and the Revolutionary. Your second-in-command is a retired militia captain called Gedwyn, who looks old enough to be your grandfather.
Below him are three platoon leaders, Tovaile, Sarl and Armen. Colm is a member of the second platoon, and your younger brother is part of the untrained masses coming along.
Gedwyn seems to know what he's doing, so you don't interfere much.

The trip only takes two hours or so - the islands are situated very close together, even though the same thing makes navigating hellishly difficult. Your crew seems to know what's it's doing, even though almost all of them used to serve on local merchant vessels, not real warships.
You begin worrying about the plan again on the trip, but there's nothing you can do but hope for the best.

The lights of Arelva's docks are practically the only things lighting up the night when you arrive. A night-time attack seemed like the only way you could catch them by surprise, but you still don't like it.
There are not enough boats to carry everyone, but a small part of your troops squeezes them inside and heads for the docks. If they'd manage to take out the dock guards without causing an alarm, this would go perfectly, but you doubt that. Still, atleast they can harass them long enough for the ships to actually get there.

The boats disappear into the night, the larger ships following them after some time.

You can't really see the island from here, but the town you're attacking is built on a hill based on the maps you've studied. There is one, single large road up to where the airship landing platforms probably are, and dozens of tiny alleyways going through the maze-like town. You hope to get up the town quick while you still have the element of surprise. Attacking up-hill will probably be hell though.

---

The ship is close enough; you jump. Gunshots echo all around you, and voices are raised for shouts of pain and alarm all across the town.
You crash onto the wooden platform, and get up just in time to avoid getting crushed by a huge rebel carrying your banner and a horn – the only way you could think of getting the troops back together at this stage.
Gedwyn follows close behind, and the rest of your troops begin flooding out, some missing the platform and sinking into the water instead. It’s not very deep here, but you hope their equipment isn’t harmed.
The banner-carrier blows the horn, shouting ‘2nd Company! Death to all loyalists!’

You grab Gedwyn from the crowd. ‘Get the troops together and up the hill, we have no time to waste!’
He simply nods and begins to shout orders. Your men rush past you. You think you saw Colm in there.

When you get to Gedwyn, he’s already talking to a small, wiry girl, who seems to be wounded.
‘ This is Devie, she’s been leading the boat attack. The man I put in charge got killed very first. They’ve lost most of their number, but she brought them all here. We’re ready.’
Gedwyn explains. The girl nods, indicating the small group of men a little further away from the others. You’re pretty sure this is just a quarter of what you sent to the shore.
‘ These aren’t your average militia, ma’am. I think they’re professionals.’ Devie says.
You nod. The airships were supposed to have brought in continental troops. Hopefully you'll be able to take on them just the same.
‘ Alright, let’s move it, we don’t have all day long!’

Your first problem comes just a little way up the hill, as a dozen loyalists jump out of cover and fire as one. There’s a fallen cart you and Devie quickly drop behind, but atleast seven bodies fall to the ground. The others hurry to cover wherever they find it.
The enemy have set up a crude barricade – incredibly quickly, in your opinion – covering about half of the street. Some of them are inside the building. You’re pretty sure the alleyways that go through this town could get your forces behind them, though you are pinned down yourself.
On the other hand, you could just rush the barricade while they’re reloading and take them in melee with superior numbers.

What will you do?

A frontal assault would cost you too many men - the best option is to flank them with the help of the narrow alleyways. You explain your plan to Devie, who then runs across the street and takes a few soldiers with her.

For what seems like forever, nothing happens. Then, gunshots and shouts of pain. The fire coming your way dies down. 'Move, move, cut them down!'

You lead the charge, climbing over the barricade and firing a shot into a loyalist's skull in point-blank. It shatters in a  rather satisfying way. With the loyalists caught between two charges, they are quickly cut down. You only lose three men, two from Devie's group. You begin to race up the street again with your troops.
There's a large, roofless building that the airships are probably in. A few shots come your way, missing all, but otherwise nothing happens. Armen, the leader of the third platoon rushes towards the other side of the building with Gedwyn's orders.

Once you're sure they're in position, you charge in.

Heavy, rotating cannons open fire the moment you come in. The heavy, armour-piercing bullets begin mercilessly cutting down your men. You shout an order to head for cover while dropping into the protective wall of a staircase leading down. Fortunately, the airship hall is full of all kinds of objects left over from their arrival and maintenance.
There are three airships in the room, and you note with alarm that the closest one is already rising.

The doors at the other side open and Armen's platoon bursts in, drawing the airship cannon's fire away from you for a moment. You order a charge forwards and start running.
A few pistol shots hit the floor behind you, and you sink into the cover of a metal crate. There are mechanics on the bridge leading to the airship with pistols, but fortunately, their aim isn't very good.

You need to get up there and stop that airship from leaving somehow. Looking around, you see plenty of stairs leading up, and also a control booth of sorts in the far corner of the room. There's probably a hidden roof in this building, one that can be closed in case of rain or anything of that sorts. If you want to close it, that booth is probably it.
Or, you could just get in that airship and turn it's guns on the other two. Or simply shoot the airship down.

In any case, you need to act quickly before it escapes.
