Oh well, there goes another 5 bucks. Plus another 2.5 on red orchestra. Still undecided on Red Faction Guerilla.

So that's another sale to Steam.  They're nickel and dimeing me to death here, but I can't pass up these deals!  Anybody else having that problem?

Yeah... I don't have time to play half the games I've bought on steam.

How much is Guerilla? It's a good enough game, although it focuses on the destruction a little too much. That and the enemies are respawning, so you can't clear an area and then destroy it at leisure.

Ugh. I really want to buy Tropico 3, and I've got the money in my PalPal account to do so. Except, when you check out with PayPal, it checks to see if you have enough money to purchase the ORIGINAL price of the game, instead of the on-sale price. Which means I'm screwed unless Valve can fix this in the next 18.5 hours.

By the way, don't buy Thief- Deadly Shadows if you've got Vista or later and aren't great with monkeying around with files. It crashes instantly for me whenever I try to run it and I'm not sure the solutions on the internet work with the Steam version.

Here's to hoping I can get this running. If not, at least I only wasted three bucks on this.

I'm pretty sure that anything that mods the game works if it doesn't change the exe or dlls. Other than that, you should be fine, though I'm not sure, I haven't looked at any of the solutions or anything.

Tropico 3 is a great game if you like city builders. My only complaint is that holding on to power is ridiculously easy via the election method. Once you get your economy up and rolling, you can easily hold power just by building a newspaper, radio, TV station, and theater and switching their content to suck up to different factions. Other than that though, it's great, a steal at full price.

In preparation for building my gaming rig, we dusted off our old TV sound system. It's pretty nice (don't ask me the specs, I have no clue) with a subwoofer and surround sound, and uses a standard 3.5mm jack. I hooked it up to my laptop and, seeing as it runs Left 4 Dead fairly well (L4D2 is laggy, but the original plays with barely a stutter on open areas) decided to go for a few quick rounds.

You know, I'm starting to understand why zombies moan all the time. 80 zombies garbling, gurgling, and yelling gets to ya. It's pretty intense.

Borderlands is down to ~$10. I've heard a bit about Saints Row 2 and Prototype - $7.50 and $15 respectively - but this computer can't run them.

Going on Steam today was a bad idea for my bank account, and also my free time.  When am I going to have a chance to PLAY these games?  I have a freaking day job now, and a horribly L4D2 addiction!

...Ghost Master is under a dollar.  If you miss Dungeon Keeper style games, and you're okay with the campaign only lasting like twenty hours, it's a dollar damn well spent.

Saint's Row 2 is fantastic.  It's got more customization than GTA:SA yet your main character is still extremely expressive.  There are six different voices for the main character and each has tons of dialogue and adds a different style, though regardless of that your character is always a criminally insane psychotic mass murdering super human killing machine.   For the first time since GTA3 you get a GTA style open world crime game where going on wantonly destructive sprees is actually completely in character with the character you're playing in the game.
