I just realized something.
« on: June 24, 2010, 01:51:30 am »

I don't read the devlog like I should, but I think that Adventure mode has had a slight upgrade in realism. I always thought that fast traveling healed all of your wounds instantly, but it apparently doesn't anymore. My current adventurer got mauled by Beak Dogs and barely escaped with his life. Like, red everything. I was shield training, so I got red in a few places. I fast traveled, and thought that he was healed. I stopped in a town and was going to check my adventurer description because I had forgot earlier. I glanced at the wounds because something had caught my eye. The wounds that were red showed now yellow.
Has anyone else made this awesome discovery, or is it a glitch where upon entering a tavern I get hurt?

No, it's part of the new shiny awesomeness of Adventure mode.

You are gonna have massive scars when you're done healing, though.

Awesome. What else has changed? I'm sorry if it's said in the dev/changelog.

I'm not sure, Toady hasn't said that much about Adventure mode.

Well, the weapon kill tracking system from Fort mode applies to adventure mode too, so you can examine your weapons and see what you've killed with them. And the new attributes system is funny. For example, apparently your mental abilities will increase when you're retired/resting.

I hope he lets the adventurer get maried or learn other skills like glassmaking or makes the settlements actually have something that is needed to survive without the ability of spawning. that would be great.

You should also know that certain bone breaks will not heal unless set, and you cannot do that yet. Infection will also set in injuries, mostly fatal sooner or later. Also know that Cyan wounds stand for "Function Loss". The part is still sound, it just isn't working at the moment.

Yes, and the wound colors are different now, like light grey wounds are gone, and brown have no effect on the body part, yellow mean the body part has lost some function or has been damaged some, Cyan is only applied to internal organs and eyes, cyan WILL heal comepletly, and lastly we have red and this means the body part has been damaged and lost all function like cyan, but wont fully heal (without medical attention at least)

Cyan wounds are confusing to me. Whenever I get a bruised lung, the lung turns cyan and my HUD starts flashing "MORTAL WOUND" but it's not actually fatal or even threatening. Hell, I don't even bleed.

The mortal wound status is somewhat bugged.  The only real ways to die are blood loss, suffocation, having your head/upper boddy/lower body chain broken, freezing, drowning, or starving. The first goes to mortal wound after being injured to the point of losing large amounts of your blood at once. It can be survived and recovered from, but not easily. The second relates to the lungs, but is bugged that any harm to the lungs is viewed as loss of breathing. The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth are instant kills.

I think if enough of your organs are damaged to red or cyan you should die.

People ARE capable of living with heart damage, people CAN live without a lung, people CANNOT live with huge blood loss, so the current way IS REALISTIC.
That is all

Im not trying to be mr nazi but you made a slight wording error, you said people cannot live without huge blood loss which means you would have to bleed yourself to live  :)

Oh crap, that's because in my language you have to say "no one CAN'T touch my stuff!" (which means "no one can touch my stuff!") and so i turned on native-thinking and made that error

Wow. No native support for (the ever annoying) double negatives? Awesome!

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.
