GURPS 4th edition WWII campaign on facebook
« on: June 23, 2010, 06:42:09 am »

Hi,

I would like to try something new. I am going to run a World War II campaign on Facebook. I have chosen FB because it has all we need and 90% of us spend most of the day there + notifications + mobile access + you name it. We can use discussion boards, photos, or anything else we need on a fan page of the campaign.

The campaign will be set in World War 2 era. I'll try to stick to historical accuracy at the beginning and only the future can tell how will the war end. Expect a lot of action, urban and countryside warfare, secret missions and projects, paranormal activities, and a lot of adrenaline.

Any 4th edition book is allowed as long as I can fit it in the rules. 3rd edition is OK if I can convert it. Everyone starts as a NORMAL HUMAN BEING and that's the only restriction at the start.

Reply here or PM me if you're interested in playing this campaign!

I would be interested in this, but I am not well versed in GURPS, and would likely require assistance for the first little bit.

The best description of this campaign would be: Band of Brothers + Paranormal

the only alternative is some forum, where you would still have to register. you wouldn't even create some dummy account just for this? it's not that you're required to have friends or anything :P

So, for the record, are we looking at 50-pt characters? 100? 500? (If we do 500-pt characters, can I be Fighting Jack Churchill, only man to take a German Machine Gun Bunker solo, with a claymore?)

Also, you mentioned in the first post that anything within reason would fly. What does 'within reason' mean? It's wwII, so presumably nothing (to start) past tl7?

What's our basic setup? Are we a commando unit, a la Inglorious Basterds/The Dirty Dozen? Are we Mata Hari/Rick Blaine/Indy Jones type semi-independent operators? Do we all meet up in a tavern in occupied France?

I would say we will be starting with 75 points with you people just finished training and heading into a secret mission about which you don't have too much knowledge at this time. You will be a part of an experimental special unit which is mixed from various allied countries. It is December 1941. and freezing cold...
