standards? (currently of attibute spreads)
« on: June 22, 2010, 07:50:36 pm »

ok i understand in a good general sense what
[PHYS_ATT_RANGE:STRENGTH:100:200:300:400:500:600:700]
means but what would some "standard" levels be for a weak, average, and strong creatures be?  as in each creature has a different str range.

this is sort of trying to understand balancing as i love realism in even fantasy things.

These are the ranges I've seen in vanilla raws.

[PHYS_ATT_RANGE:AGILITY:150:600:800:900:1000:1100:1500]     -
[PHYS_ATT_RANGE:TOUGHNESS:0:400:600:750:800:900:1100]       --
[PHYS_ATT_RANGE:ENDURANCE:450:950:1150:1250:1350:1550:2250] +
[PHYS_ATT_RANGE:RECUPERATION:700:1200:1400:1500:1600:1800:2500] ++
[PHYS_ATT_RANGE:DISEASE RESISTANCE:5000:5000:5000:5000:5000:5000:5000]  max

The kind of attribute doesn't matter, I just copied that directly from some of my notes.

An "average" range is what you get when you don't put an attribute range token in.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

but what is "average" then? and vanilla examples gives me confusion as most of the example numbers are still "low" given the "high" is half of max...

i understand attitude doesn't matter as much i was just using str for my example of the tag

Well, the average range has a 1000 in the middle. Dunno about the rest of the range.

They're not low, 5000 is really high. Additionally, the far ends of a given range aren't very likely.

yes it works on a bell curve, on top of the pattern of -400, -200, -100, 0, 100, 200, 400 or something so that it matches but more stresses the curving

hope that above is a helpful reminder to some who doesn't know about it.

but what would happen if there are mixed ratios? like larger numbers on outsides and smaller on middle?

oh if 1500 is a "high" that must enforce what you mean that 5000 is actually that high because the attributes effect more than they imply (and maybe more than previous versions of the game)...
