People.  Stop.  You're being obnoxious.  These people have a right to their misguided and stupid opinions.  Also? G-Flex, you're a communist, neener-neener-neener.

Holy forum trolls, batman! Pathos said something funny!

In this thread, nenjin denies the existance of people with severe peanut allergies.

And I do it slathered in peanut butter and Reese's Pieces.

Remember, while peanut allergies are one of the most common, having even a moderate reaction to peanut dust is very rare. Deadly ones are even more rare.

It's also worth noting that the article makes no mention of FAA statistics on allergy deaths aboard airplanes. So, not only is there no medical research on the topic, there wasn't even any tangible research offered with the article or by proponents.

Most people with severe peanut allergies probably just avoid airplanes. I assume they could find a study on more severe reactions caused by being in close proximity to peanuts. Although, they haven't done that for some reason...

The government is your mom and should take care of you.  Peanuts are dangerous and should be banned, as should cars, guns, knives, forks, sharp corners, spoons, shoelaces, belts, ropes, ball-gags, robots, swords, axes, hammers, hands, dogs, and people.

I agree that more research should definitely be done, but I do think that the arguments presented are plausible.

Of the options HideousBeing mentioned, I think #2 is perfectly fine. Peanuts aren't such a necessity that going one out of every fifty flights without them is going to cause you serious problems.

We don't need trolling in this thread.

Same goes for you.

So I guess that rules out Option #4, complimentary gas masks for those who claim peanut allergies.

Wait.

Wait.

Don't they have un-recycled air going to those breathing masks in the event of a loss of cabin pressure? PROBLEM SOLVED!

It isn't trolling. I am simply supporting Cthulhu in that nanny state ideolgy is spreading. I think the trolling thread has everyone on edge about the trolls that don't exist here at all.

They still serve peanuts on airplanes?

We don't even need regulations! Just need a heavy object to lob at the window.

I don't care what you call it or don't call it. You were both building up this insipid straw-man that serves to do nothing but turn the argument into a trainwreck by diverting off the rails and into Shitty Political Hogwash Mountain. I don't want to crash into Shitty Political Hogwash Mountain.

We're talking about whether or not peanut allergies are a serious enough concern to consider regulations requiring airlines to take measures to avoid any such situation, which is a totally legitimate thing to do. Throwing around implications about a "nanny state" and other such bullshit instead of actually saying something with any meaning to it doesn't help.

On the contrary, we LIVE underneath Shitty Political Hogwash Mountain, here at General Discussion.  We ARE dwarves, remember?  Shitty Political Hogwash Mountain is the mountainhome!

And yes, science isn't going to happen just because a couple of idiots on the internet get worked up about it.
