So, I generated a new world today. What I found was shocking beyond reason. My suspicions were first raised when I wasn't allowed to adventure as an elf. I didn't really want to play as one of those nature loving bastards mind you, but the absense was noted. A started off an adventure as a axdwarf, and explored the new world. I ended up finding a forest retreat, and went inside of it. There were dwarfs living there. With the hippies. I couldn't believe my eyes. At first, I thought that a dwarven raiding party had simply been reduced to a stupor mid-pillage due to sobriety, but when I chopped one of the hippie's heads off they attacked me! Being a merciful ax lord, I killed them all. Fearful, I went to another retreat off in the distance, and found the same hellish situation. My attempts at genociding the elven menice were later brought to an end by three giant desert scorpians. This is awful! I will attempt to further kill off the elf/dwarf alliance and report back.

Yea those Giant Desert Scorpions have a nasty neurotoxin (the closest thing that Toady could get to a neurotoxin) which is 100% lethal. Even megabeasts such as Hydras eventually succumb, it just takes longer.

Given that you wouldn't die for several adventure mode hours, yea you're more likely to die of something else.

Too bad you can't throw it from a distance and have the stinger inject poison.

What actually happened is the Dwarves took over the elves, and made them slaves. Some elves likely redeemed themselves and so joind the Dwarven civ.

Or, the other way around. In which case, go right ahead with your genocide. Just remember to experience rivers.

The dwarves have taken over the elves and now run their forest retreats. It can't be the other way around, because the elves don't take over other civs' cities since they have no use for sides that aren't forest retreats and besides kidnapping, there is no other ways to get other creatures as members of your own civ.
That means that the dwarves are bringing those savages the joys of proper civilisation. If you had taken a look at those elves, you would have noticed that they most likely had beards and wore leather clothing.
That also means that your genocidal actions were simply psychotic, unjustified and actually contra-productive to the dwarven cause as a whole, but than again, you're an adventurer so behavior like that is to be expected.

I did begin to question my motives when I murdered the Queen of the Dwarfs using my next axdwarf. But then, she shouldn't have built her Mountainhome in the middle of an impassible mountain range. Oh well. Death to the dwarfs/humans/elves/goblins(extinct)/kolbolds/wildlife/FUN!

Dwarves leaving said Elves alive is... questionable.
Dwarves leaving the trees alive just the same!
Dwarves actualy living with Elves among trees is... atrocious!

Genocide adventurers is one way, but if you want flair (and dead trees), embark on those frilly elf villages and cave the things into the magma sea!

Why not fry the hippies alive with their own trees?

Because magma is faster and more dwarven and adventuring to the spot would find you standing at the rim of an enormous hole in the earth, passing caverns and underground lakes, only to bury itself in an ocean of lava. If you're extra lucky, one or more lakes will be draining into the magma sea.
