Above the list of each type of worker on the "zoom to planet" screen you should see a population number and a number in parenthises. That second number is your growth/decline. If you don't have enough food, it will be negitive.

It is going to be a long time before you find a planet as good at producing food as your first, but every planet will be as good at producing research (barring upgrades) and in most cases production. This is why it is a good idea to have a nice big feighter fleet around.

I didn't watch the videos all the way through. You should pose questions here in a pesudo-RP manner as if we were your advisors. Then we could aruge about them and hilarity would insue. I could tell you exactly how I play the game, but that ruins the point of a blind LP.

Oh man, think of the arguments we could have when it comes time to design ships!

You totally need to let us claim officers when they arrive.

My bit of advice: don't be afraid to wait. 20-30 turns is not that long.
Also, freighters are abstracted, as you've noticed - they move food automatically.
Check out the icons on the right hand side of the galaxy map - they show a global food suplus/deficit and freighter availability.

Thanks for that advice, Palazzo, it really helped and I'm not even kidding.
Also, Part 6 is up. Enjoy!

Edit: And also Part 7. I'm really starting to love this game. Unfortunately, since this is supposed to be blind, I'm not allowed to play the game outside of the Let's Play. I'll probably just say "Screw this!" in a few videos since this is just so awesome and 10 minutes a day is not enough.

If we took a vote, I'd say don't worry so much about recording and just give us after action reports. If you want to play with 5 advisors, you just have to stop every time you get a new tech, or want to go to war, or what ever.

Hey, I wanna claim Administrator Yota!
Advice good gives he.

A few points:
Wheter you produce housing or trade goods, it doesn't really do anything if you've got no production on the planet. So, e.g. "Gary I" doesn't benefit at all from you chosing housing in the production queue.

The surplus food is sold automatically, regardless of what sits in the production queue.

Consider the research lab technology in the "computers" section - it might help your clueless feudal scientists actually do something.

Also, about research - you can change goals at any time, without losing the accumulated research points. The pool gets reset only when you actually discover the tech in question.

Yota says: No-brainer colonising Barcada is. After you're done, fleet you must build and hunt some space monsters, yes.

Yota explains: your varying income comes from trade goods being shifted in and out of the production queue.
Also, it's more cost effective to switch farmers producing surplus food into workers, so that they can build trade goods - you make more money this way. The selling surpluss food for 1/2 a BC is there only so that you don't feel the urge to micromanage the food income.
Also2, trade goods don't have anything to do with the above mentioned surpluss food selling - it's completely automatic.

Yota is happy that Gary I is not a total backwater world anymore, now that it has all those labs, farms and factories.

I request the next officer you get your hands on.

I'm also rather surprised at the number of beneficial events that have been occurring. And that the Alarians (or whatever they're called) haven't been attacking you.

The Antarans are attacking Chadul, they will arrive in three turns. Sorry to say, but Chadul is screwed. Best save what you can, the Antarans will almost certainly wipe out anything you can possibly field in three turns. Even though they likely only are attacking you with a frigate. Yes, that's right, a frigate can almost certainly destroy whatever you can possibly field.
