Oh, you're in for some fun.

EDIT:
Watching the first vid; you're in for some real fun; and same with the audience I guess. ;D

More like advice than a tip. I suggest you take a moment to read through everything, and considering it's tutorial mode, they ought to hold your hand through most of it anyway. There should also be a manual scanned as a PDF as well hopefully.

Oh I love this game.

1.  Create a thousand battleships.
2.  Lose 5000BC a turn.
3.  ???
4.  Profit!

No! That approach is no fun!
Don't read no manuals, instead use what common sense you've got to figure stuff out.
And start a new game at at least "medium(or whatever it's called)" difficulty level.
It'll be funnier, you'll see.

YOUR BRITISH ACCENT IS AWESOME

Wait, is that British? Sounds a bit different. Something like it, anyway. Australian? German? I dunno. It's pretty awesome.

I think this applies better in MOO, not MOO2.

It's so painful to watch you flail about cluelessly. Which makes this LP even better. :P

Good to see you Let's playing again.

I find that both biotech options are good. Biospheres give you a higher max pop, but help less early on. However, the hydroponics will let you make use of new planets faster by freeing up farmers and allowing you to do more with places like the Arid planet.

I usually go hydroponics and just trade/steal biospheres later.

I don't think it's spoiling anything if the game designers intended you to know it. ;)

Something you should know: Max population is not just based on the size, but on the type of planet. Thus why Nixitos II has a lower max then Yian II.

Pelenor I has a current max population of 3. So Terraforming and Bio spheres are a must to get it to be worth anything. Though it's still quite useless after that due to the still very low max population. I've got no idea what I would use it for.

Yian II is a very good planet to settle despite being mineral poor. So settling there should be top priority. Nixitos II is a no-go planet in my opinion. Ultra poor="THIS PLANET IS BAR NONE WORTHLESS" to me.

Freighters are important. They carry colonists and food around. They make building new colonies much easier.

The farm is not exactly a good option. Since food becomes very easy to produce later in. Biospheres are not that good either for just the +2 to max population, though it's better than the farm.
