Oh, the dwarfanity!

I have to wonder... did I encounter a bug?  I was attacked by over 60 invaders this siege... I only had 40-odd dwarves to begin with.

It was gruesome.  Goblin spearmen rampaging my halls, killing unarmed peasants left and right... hasty squads forming up and assaulting the troll legions, only to fall to a volley of arrows fired by the goblin marksmen coming down the stairs... the intricate stonework of my main hall drenched in blood...

I survived with 16 dwarves.  I did not kill them all, but they retreated after suffering several losses.  I was not prepared for this.

And less than a full year later, they are back.  This fortress is doomed.

Well then, I guess now is a good time to prepare an army.  Some of those death pits would be nice too I guess.

A 3x3 spike masher is enough to soften them up a bit. Use wood if you don't want to cheat too much.

you mean the dwarven sewing machine?

also - now I'm gonna have to defend my manager's outside hut against assault  :(

Do the trolls go after constructions now, or is that in near-future stuff?

My entryway is a 6x3 hallway of death, trapped with 10 obsidian swords per tile. Unimaginative? Probably. Excessive? Almost certainly. Fun? Yet bet!

My main entry has a simple bridge/pit trap.  Thing is, it's at the summit of the mountain, and happens to be directly over the chasm.  It has two bridges that fling hapless goblins onto the bridge that retracts over a pit, which drops them into the chasm.

code:

 ->        <-
/______ __ ____\
->####|  |##<-
######|  |####
######|  |####
######||||####
######|\/|####
####..CHASM..#

Automatic goblin disposal system with built in goblin junk remover!

Of course, it would be even better if the goblins tried to path past the kobold cave to the south east...

MyLittlePonyBuiltMyHotRod, this is your first warning. I would like to direct you to read our forum's FAQ and posting guidelines before posting again. Specifically we don't use swear words here, and your picture of Stalin riding a Year3 Limited Edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp was both upsetting and historically inaccurate.
