I sometimes find myself wondering, while playing the game, what particular skill I have in real life would would be comparative inside the fort. As a graphic designer I would have to say the skill I have could compare to an engraver. Yours?

Well, I'm an avid martial artist, including a second degree black belt and 13 years of hopping between styles at random. I'm a Nidan in Ninjutsu, an instructor in Muay Thai and Savate/Kickboxing. I also studied Kendo and Iaido. I'm not bad with a bow and arrow, although I've never fired a crossbow. Aside from cooking and brewing, I'm really not good for much else in the way of DF skills.

So..I guess that makes me a combo Swordsdorf/Wrestler/Fighter?

Cooking, but I've had a couple jobs that could be considered Mechanic. In my dreams I'd star as a Siege Engineer with a maniacal laughter habit.

If modded nobles apply, I'd propably be a Dwarf Genesis Psychatrist.

Otherwise, Bookkeeper or Broker.

Legendary mechanic.

I consider myself legendary not because of my decent skill at mechanics and engineering, but because I fufill the other criteria of being insane and perfectly happy to build absurd Rube Goldberg dwarven contraptions. (In and out of DF, though my real life ones are sadly not as grand in scope.)

I wouldn't mind blacksmithing, but I have no skills in that regard.

More likely I'd end up as a hauler-slash-cannon-fodder. Drafted to the military, given a set of steel armor and weapon, but never get a chance to train because I'm part of the metal-production corps (smelting ore, making coke). Die to a goblin arrow stuck into my pancreas after trying to intercept a goblin ambush from a dwarf caravan or liaison.

Metalsmithing looks like a lot of fun. It's one of those things that I eventually want to learn, when I can get all my crap together.
