This bill is hilariously unconstitutional on the face of it. What part of "if you are born here you are a citizen" is hard to understand? But I'd give the bill a 25% chance of surviving on a 5-4 decision.
I love the immigration debate. There's basically two choices going forward.
1) Choice one, we use enforcement to stop illegal immigration: very, very, very, very, very hard
2) Choice two, we allow more legal immigrants then secure the border: easy
Of course, if we did 2, then 1 would become easy because there wouldn't be illegal immigrants anymore. But people have it in their minds that we need to do 1 before we can do 2. Never mind that if we did 2, we wouldn't need to do 1 anymore. Or the fact that if we just did 1 first we would save approximately 11 gazillion dollars and authorizing the police to send a Doberman up our asses to search for wetbacks. For some reason, people love to trumpet the fact that if we just got 1 done, then it would be time to do 2.
It's almost like they don't want to do 2 at all and are just dragging their feet.
To all you racists border security lovers out there, I just want to take a moment to pre-emptively gloat. The history books are going to make you guys look like a bunch of turds in 100 years. How do I know? Because people just like you look like a bunch of turds in the history books of today. Of course, your schools won't have any money for history books because you blew all your money on keeping the mexicans out.
