Too bad Dwarves cant just EAT goblins. After I caught over 58 of them in traps during the third Siege of my Fortress in the land of Sorrows  I was like "Huh, this would make an epic everlasting food source if they could just eat them"

And would be a fitting, disturbing way for the Dwarves to handle the Goblins IMO.

Om nom nom, Goblin Burgers. Where Siege go?.

You can.

Just adjust the civ ethics so that eating sentients is acceptable.

:)

Yes, but then the Humens will probably hate you. Then you'll have to kill the Humens.

Just means more food variety in your roasts!  :D

I've only ever seen the red line out of like 30+ worldgens. Never a war designation...

It's pretty infrequent.

Ive seen "War" after worldgen in the latest version but it's pretty rare.    Ive never seen a "-----" change to "War" though.

I don't know how much the player actions affect the rest of the world, but this might work:
  • Generate a world with a lot of history, open it in legends mode and find a dwarven civilization that goes to war with its neighbors.  Note the starting date of one of those wars
  • Regenerate a copy of the world with the exact same seeds, but stop history 3 years (say) before the war
  • Embark.  You now have 3 years to get your defense in place before the war starts!

As history and world advancement stops after worldgen, this will not work.

Lucky. My dwarves always seem to be at war with goblins, and occasionally humans. Second-year sieges are no fun.

Damn.  Well, I guess you can still use worldgen preview to figure out a year to embark when the war is actually ongoing.  Of course, that might result in a goblin army arriving when you still only have 7 dwarves to man the defenses :)

Yeah, me and a friend have been trying our hand at modding the game. That's one of my plans.

As many goblins as I capture with my cage traps, I'd never run out of food.

Heh, "Dwarf full..., too much goblin..., guh!"

Well, you could make 'eat sapient' acceptable for all races BUT the goblins...
