For future reference, where does strand extraction take place again? Like I said way way earlier, I've never actually processed adamantine.

You give a crafts dwarf the labor strand extraction, and he goes to his workshop and spends a month getting a strand out of the raw adamantine, which you can then melt down into wafers to use as bars, or make cloths out of it.
EDIT: Yeah, no way in hell I'll be able to get a full year in. I'm going to pack up the save as soon as I get to spring.
