Wheel of time RTD - Turn 14 on the road again...
« on: June 13, 2010, 05:26:10 pm »

I’ve just had an idea for a new RTD that I haven't seen done before.
I don't expect most of you to be familiar with the wheel of time, and I’ll do my best to stop that being a disadvantage.
I am going to have a few deviations from the canon of course, both for game play and the fact I’ll be running off memory (no way am I searching through 12 or so 1000 page books just to find a tiny detail :P)
also i'm not sure how good of a gm i'll be we'll soon see

i will allow ressurections, but it will require 4 turns at least, reduced by number of people woking in it. assuming there is a corpse to work with (i may revise this of course) you cannot ressurect a pile of ash for example but, say a dismembered body, you could first heal then ressurect

Your character can be one of the following:
Spoiler: Male aes sedai (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Female aes sedai (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Wilders (click to show/hide)
Spoiler:  aiel (click to show/hide)

Rolls are rather complex in this one, I will be using random.org as I don't have a real dice
Spoiler: Basic rolls (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Channelers (click to show/hide)
There are more rules that you will uncover as you go along.

All players start out on the side of the light, however you may defect to the shadow at any time as a free action. However, once you turn to the shadow, you will find it difficult to come to the light...

You wake in an inn called the golden harp in a small town called 3 kings. You are in a room by yourself lying on a rather comfortable bed. You remember that your party had planned to make an important decision over breakfast in the morning. You are well rested (+1 to rolls involving mental tasks next 5 turns)

Players:
1: Frelock
2: Drangar
3: bleddin
4: USEC_OFFICER
5: Flintus10

edit: i forgot to mention
all i'll need is your class  (and any chouces available) and a name (you forum name is fine)

Statuses:
Spoiler: Frelock (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Drangar (click to show/hide)

Spoiler:  Bleddin (wolfchild) (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Flint (Flintus10) (click to show/hide)

I'll join up as an aiel.  Seems like one of the simplest chars to play.

Go downstairs and remember what our options were.

So I take it this is either far before the books or most of the way through them? Or are you just ignoring that small problem of male aes sedai being driven mad by their powers for gameplay purposes?

Name: Drangar
Class: Male aes sedai(invisibility, guiding fire, tie off weave)

I go downstairs and get some food while I wait for the others.

Go downstairs and remember what our important decision was.

you mean go downstairs to make the decision? it hasn't been made yet
(i'm gonna let the players choose the first goal)
i think i worded it badly in the first post

it's set in the 5th age (at this point i'm assuming when braqndon sanderson finishes the series for jordan rand wins)
so no taint on the source
(yeah i know 3 kings was in the 3rd age but i liked the name ;) )

hehe no doubt i'll need to rebalance everything seeing as i set the numbers without any experience im blancing an rtd
i've changed the rolls to 18 sides for standard rolls i'll readjust any bonuses etc if it needs it (i just felt that the bonuses would be too strong on a d6 but i still wanted to differentiate between classes)

Not what was decided, I mean, but what needed to be decided and what our options were.  Sorry.

Another question: Are the female aes sedai subject to the binding rod's(or whatever it's called. I haven't read any of the books for several years) oaths?

no, the rod was lost in the last age

oh and i should mention aes sedai can teach other aes sedai fo the same sex their weaves but men and women weave too differently to teach each other.

Go downstairs and scan the room carefully inspecting each of the inn's patrons.
