Ant Colonys?
« on: June 13, 2010, 04:22:08 pm »

Is there a point to them? That would be cool to dig right under them and find like a bunch of little ants, but, that does not happen... Can we even capture them as Vermin?

Think they're just decoration.

A giant ant colony would be interesting:  where they tunnel around randomly building a nest and might break into your fort and start attacking.

By then the dwarves should be smart enough to try to stop them, after all, the ants are about half their size.

It would be interesting if they Generated Ant's, think of the purposes other than eating the remains! Oh the Dwarven Scientist will be pleased!

You mean the same one that encased the fortress in magma and smashed the king with a drawbridge?

No not the Giant ass ones, these ones are smaller and more Dwarven-friendly.

Considering your careful use of the word 'more' I'm taken to believe the fort will only flood with water, and the count will be killed instead.

Only in dwarven culture is alcohol poisoning a death worthed investigating, while being impaled through several toes, a eye, and a thumb from a spiraling water[3] is not.  Because everyone knows, the only way a dwarf could get alcohol poisoning is if someone put poison into the alcohol.

What a lovely design for a fortress.  To think, though, if the ants had only troubled to leave a few cage traps outside, they'd have a bunch of tameable/butcherable scientists right now.

That is an awesome design. Now I know what I'm doing for my next megaproject (After I'm done my current one)

Currently Building: Purplesaber (pit mine/anthill/80 z-level wound in the earth)

Former Projects: Roughnesschants(multi-level aboveground city)

Best summary of Dwarf Fortress:
I'm fairly certain every path in the game leads to some sort of massive execution.

The ant version of Dwarf Fortress.
Surely the ant version of DF is SimAnt?
EDIT: Yes, there is a Sim version of everything.

Dwarven blood types are not A, B, AB, O but Ale, Wine, Beer, Rum, Whisky and so forth.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
