I'll take that city. Am I allowed to teleport to another planet?

Nope. You'll probably have to take that city next turn, though, so as to not delay the turn.

Then I'll take space l13. I'll try making a turn before the next one, but if I'm too late don't wait for me.

I'm not sure I understand the unit customization mechanic. Do we just say the stats we want and attack and armor each costs 1 point, or do we attach researched weapons and such to them? Is it dependent on our research level?

Are we allowed to attach additional special abilities for increased cost, such as making a land unit able to bombard an adjacent tile or allowing the unit to transport other units?

EDIT:Scrolled back in the thread a bit... Holy jesus fuck-christ, this game can get complex... And rather limited in its flexibility...

You just say the stats you want. Research level dictates how many points they cost. Normally, 1 weapon costs 1 point, but if you go over, it starts to cost more. For example, have Weapons 3, then 1 weapon costs 1 point, 2 costs 2, 3 costs 3, but 4 costs 5, 5 costs 7, 6 costs 9, and then 7 costs 12... as long as you stay under or at your research level, each weapons point costs 1 point. Once you exceed it, each point costs 2 points. Once you exceed double, it costs triple; once you exceed triple, it costs quadruple, and so on.

You cannot attach special abilities. The game is not very flexible. It is not a role-playing game like Dawn of a New World, it is a strategy game like chess. The point is not to tell a story and make your civilization unique, though you can do that if you want. The point is to win. You cannot, for example, play chess and say "I combine my rook and bishop to form a civilization-specific unique unit, the Mounted Priest with such and such abilities", yeah?

No but that would be one fucking epic game of chess...

Okay then, makes sense. I presume armor and shields work in the same way? Also, this turn is assuming I'm getting resources fromthe new city location and that I understand city resource collection:

Spoiler: Turn (click to show/hide)

Yes it would, oh yes it would...

That's acceptable. I think I'll give you the resource income from your new space this turn. Combined with the 20 IP from before, you have 44 to spend.

Turn should be up in a few hours.

Yay! We're saved from the lack of strategy!

Yes it would, oh yes it would...

So, anyone have any idea where to find this game of chess?

Two teams of two players each. Two are standard chess players. Two are referees, who talk with each other to form new rules and revoke old ones. They must agree on any new rule additions, as well as any rule removals.

I have a strange desire to host this.

I'd play. But can it be Shogi instead of normal chess?
