I have little faith in our loyalty to a game that involves so many calculations (I usually took thirty minutes to an hour, maybe more, just writing up a turn)... I don't mean offense, but I doubt that the general populace of this forum has the time or dedication to play this for a good stretch. I cite the abnormally large quantity of dropouts before the first turn has actually started.
As such, I don't think you should wait for empty spots to be filled. It will only prolong the game to bring in people who will probably only drop out soon.

Yay.
There is silence as the colony pods hurtle through the unsuspecting Alpha Centauri system. After an insufferably long time, they finally land. The captain sends a really great speech in Morse Code form with lasers.

".... Now, for the good of humanity, we must succeed. There aren't any probes from Earth here, so we're to assume the worst. All pods have successfully landed. We haven't detected anything that looks alien, but that doesn't mean we're alone. Good luck out there.

On this front, we've got some light dissent. Many people were prepared to be left behind, but they're still not happy about it. Secruity has found some graffiti from a new group calling themselves the Sons of Redemption. Their goals are still unclear.

Frederick out."

(The second post has been updated with a technology costs table. Use it.
You'll note that the cities have colored squares in front of them. This indicates that the city is garrisoned.
Some players have more starting units then others, for initial balance.
All level 1 non-space technologies are known by all players.
I didn't show it on the map yet, but X2yzh9 is currently controlling the hexes at H15 and G14. He picked the worst city site of anybody, and needs the boosts or he will be steamrolled.
I will not be playing favorites, aside from what I did this turn. There may be something later, but it will be by clearly defined rules if it happens.
Check for errors.)

Badly.

As the supervisors oversaw the industryous workings of the city, they knew it was not enough. "We must foccus on improving our eficiency" on said, "no we need to expand our boarers" said he second, the third  was the voice of comprimise "Foccus our researchers on improving our industry, while our labour forces outfit a group for colonisation, we can figgure out how to manage two cities while they are en route"

Sorry im not that great at RP

Counting the first turn, I should have 18 industry (because I researched Industry and have +12 income), not 6.

"I found the workers to be quite enthusiastic, to my surprise. They had not taken the insult in stride, they had turned it around. 'The drones are the workers.' one of them said to me, 'and where would a beehive be without its drone workers?' I could have shattered their fragile enthusiasm with the truth there and then. Traditional logic would have dictated that I inform them of the truth. True logic, however, dictates that I let them redefine truth. After all, bees are likely extinct anyway, and even if not, they're not going to protest that misuse." - Ander Samuels, Planetfall Observations

The next turn shouldn't take nearly as long to get out, as I finally have the problems under control.
