Alright, Um, I guess I"ll just save my Res-points. Build a new colony at I18 and send a garrison unit with them to ensure their safety.

Clarification: Units can only move one hex per turn per engine point, the fourth number. Garrisons cannot be moved without some sort of transport.

You should make a Laser Transfer tech for 200, 300 research, and then you can use Colonists to build Laser Banks and Photovoltaic Banks (doesn't use up a colony slot). Then a planet with Laser Banks can beam all its energy to a planet with Photovoltaic Banks and the receiver planet will have the industry pooled (unrealistic, I know, but sounds fun).

It just means you don't have a garrison, besides you have the whole continent to yourself.

I did the balancing after making the map. I decided that you didn't need a starting unit, but didn't feel like correcting the already-uploaded map.

You can, for some odd reason that I don't feel like justifying. I didn't state it clearly, but shields require a 50 point tech before they can be researched. Space units require the 200 point tech. Everything else is researchable now.

I liked that one, too bad you can't do random or custom maps in single player and I never played the campaign.

You should. It even comes with a pretty nice novella. I never finished the campaign, but that was because I was really bad at it. Come to think of it, I should have another go. Have to find my CD...
