Is it possible to have a stockpile with only mechanisms? I can't seem to find them on the stockpile settings.

I believe mechanisms are in the furniture stockpile menu.

yeah and you can even seperate the stockpiles based on material so you have magma safe ones in one pile and normal ones in the other

Since they don't stack at all I usually just disable them on all of the furniture stockpiles and then mark them for dumping.

If you toggle a nearby garbage zone on and off when you do this you can get them all moved pretty quick and then just reclaim them for actual use.

...or I guess you could build gear assemblies all up and down your hallways to make use of excess mechanisms as they're made.
