If xkcd told you that you had just won a million dollars, you wouldn't cheer and go buy a house. And even if you did, you'd just end up in debt.

So no, you're all still losing.

I'm confused about how your analogy does anything except bolster what I just said.

I don't play it. But people say that I am because, "OMG YOUR ALWAYS PLAYING THE GAME, ITS A RULE!" It gets very annoying. To me, it is just trolling.

I consider "The Game" to be a zen concept. If you are capable of beating your own desire to conform / play a game you've already been playing by not playing (ie. winning), then you are capable of beating your other societal inhibitions, too.

I can only imagine they missed the point of the analogy and somehow think it means nothing.

You said the following: Just because someone says you've won (xkcd), doesn't mean you've won. Thus, you are still losing.
I said the following: No, that is incorrect. Just because someone says you are still losing (Grakelin, the internet), doesn't mean you are still losing. Thus, you are not still losing.

and just because somewhere on the internet someone told you that you were playing the game, doesn't mean you are, thus you aren't playing the game.

Why does anyone care? I like the game but I don't force it on others. I don't wish to be called dumb because I like to play something?

But, according to the rules of the Game, which clearly state that everybody is playing at all times and you can only win by not thinking about it, we are all still losing. This is already established fact, which you confirmed by linking to the xkcd comic in the first place. You can't 'not be playing' if you are 'winning', and once you read the rules, you are 'playing'. This rules out Askot's "Nobody is playing The Game" theory.

XKCD is not on The Game's council of experts. It is just one of many scam artists who try to trick you into continuing to lose the game by getting to gloat about how you won it, and bringing up how you win it any time somebody mentions it (thus forcing an admittance of loss when you express distaste at the immaturity of The Game).

Ipso facto, we are all still losing The Game.

That's a fair point. But the fact remains that the Game is only a... thought, I guess. I can make up a game that says "This is the Cheddarius game. Rule 1: Cheddarius loses forever." And then, technically, I will have lost the Cheddarius game. But what's the point? It's not like it has any actual consequence. Telling people they've lost the game is really quite pointless (unless, of course, there is the understanding that they enjoy attempting to not lose the game and/or losing the game).

The consequence is the loss of personal dignity, which you get by cheating at The Game.

Everything we intellectualize is just a thought, by the way. Even the law. Nothing is forcibly stopping you from killing people or stealing things (except the victims and their friends, I guess), but you still obey these laws.

Sorry to hear about you losing the Cheddarius game, by the way. I think the rules were stacked against you. There was no way to win.

A loss of personal dignity? That seems pretty subjective. I mean, while you may consider bringing up the XKCD comic losing personal dignity, many people (me included) could consider it basically inconsequential.
Surely you understand what I mean by just a thought. I mean, having no "real" consequences. If you were to bet money on the outcome of the Game, then it would no longer be just a thought, because it would have consequences. This way, the consequence is just "you lose the Game", but... it doesn't really matter, if you see what I mean, because whether you have won or lost doesn't impact your life.

But preaching the game to others is not part of the game. That is what you seem to be trying to do Graklin, you don't win by making others lose.
