Re: abculatter's picture

I envisioned the glowy one as being written in glowing runic script, forged into the image.

I'd like to second feasting upon a useless villager, however the best way to accomplish that is.

Name: The Iron Rune

Level of Organisation: Highest. We want a circle of devoted followers, but the best overlords are mysterious, and our plans will be somewhat hampered if every single person who does our bidding is aware of that fact.

Looks: Ornate masks, carved to resemble various demons. Low-ranking members have blank faceplates, which become more decorated and distinctive as they rise up in the ranks. The highest members have massive horned helms and tooth-filled maws- which also raises suspicions about whether something was really an outfit or a true demon. Plain black robes besides.
Temples should be stone, with a red glow where possible and black curtains separating rooms. Various... depictions should line the walls, becoming more depraved and maddening as one enters deeper into the temple.

Idle Actions: Idol Actions. Carve strange figurines, runes, or runed figurines out of whatever is on hand.

Because they're more fun? It's a forum game, being practical isn't the point, and cliche evil is much funnier than practical evil. Not to mention, it's pretty clear no one else likes the idea of an engineer demon.

Another vote for urist's idea.

Oh boy oh boy.
There are so many good suggestions here. Unfortunately there can only be one, and, well, Urist does have the most supporters.
Note that your cult's structure is open to change- nothing has been set in stone... yet.
Name: The Unseeing

Level of organization:
Kyrgytzan of the Holy Darkness (us) (Yes, with a title)
     The Blinded One (Human leader)
The Archons (10 most skilled arcani)
The Arcani (Those skilled in magiks) (Yes, with a "k")
     The Militant (Soldier group)
The Fervent (all other cult members)

Appearance:
     Uniforms:
The Fervent: Red hooded robes, marked with the symbol in black on the back
The Militant: Armor, emblazoned with the symbol in red on the back. Black hoods.
The Arcani: Black hooded robes, with the symbol in red.
The Archons: Same as the Arcani, but with the symbol tattooed on their foreheads.
The Blinded one: Eyes stitched shut over empty sockets. Dark clothing, with the Symbol of the Holy Darkness tattooed on his chest in glowing runes.
     Symbol:
An eye, with a dagger plunged through it. (Heavily stylized to look runic, of course)
Temples: Something like the Pantheon in Rome, but with the occulus replaced by a deep hole in the ground, leading to the depths of hell itself. Also, made from black steel rather than white marble.

Idle Actions:
Suggestion for an idle action to go with Urist's one, then;

Signs - Cult members can identify one another by tracing the sign of an orb with a cut through it (essentially similar to Phi), in dust, blood, whatever seems appropriate.  Transient signs are recommended unless you are deliberately trying to send a message (e.g. carved into someone's chest).

As a sign of devotion to You, they run one finger down their right eye.

OF course, the Militant shall have to wait awhile to be formed, as we have scholars and intellectuals, not soldiers. And the more... horrifying... portions of converting Arevor to the Blinded One should wait as well.
Actions:
Actions: The cultist chose the least fit member of the village and feeds it to you. Also try to get more cultists.

There is a villager who no one likes much, especially the cultists. He is a nice man, basically, but he is also rich and successful, and has spent most of his life cruising along with little effort- for which many resent him.
In the middle of the night, your followers, wearing their freshly-dyed robes, sneak into his house, and snatch him from his bed. They scrawl runes and bisected eyes on the walls of his house, then take him out into the woods, and tie him to a tree. They call your name, carve runes into his flesh, laugh as he struggles against his bonds. Drawn by their calls and the mental anguish of the sacrifice, you arrive at the site, your form phasing between human and demon. Your followers avert their eyes as you enter the temple- they have seen you in their dreams, and for all their loyalty do not wish to look upon you unduly.
The cultists flee- for all their joy in the suffering of the victim before, what is to come will be to much for them. You take your time. Before you consume the sacrifice, you remove the rag from his mouth. His screams echo through the woods as you softly caress his flesh with your razor-sharp limbs, and conjure pure terror straight into his mind. As the man reaches a crescendo of pain- both mental and physical- you take one of the knives and plunge it into his right eye. You consume the severed soul, then the body- the skin, the flesh, the bones and the organs. You leave only the right eye- still pierced by the dagger- to be found by your cultists.

Your hunger sated, you redouble your efforts to weaken the minds of the villagers. The cult grows as men who come seeking solace at the temple are converted by Arevor.

As yet, the missing villager has not been noticed, nor have people realised the shared theme of their recent nightmares- but it can only be a matter of time, and in a village this small, rumours will spread quickly.

Required: Cult action, your action.

Name: Kyrgyrtzan
Physical might: 12 manpowers
Mental might: 2.4 mageminds (your mental strength is double that of a trained mortal) (-.2:Golems)
Followers: 7
Slaves: 0
Servants: 1 (undercover doll)

Cult: The Unseeing. Medium organisation. 7 members in 1 village.

We should use one of the other suggested cults in the next village. Cult rivalries will only make our worship stronger!

Demon Action: Continue torturing the villagers / granting boons to the cultists. Boons should be minor gifts like small horns, minor strength increases, etc.
Cult Action: Scout around for a second village.

Blind Demon War Bears? Oh, so tempting.

I may have to vote for this if it gets more support than mine.

I think we should make the spleen a holy organ, second to the intestine and third being the liver. Implant this into our followers through some form of manipulation, such as dreams, possessions, or hallucinations. Have them honor these organ in rituals involving the ingestion of herbs which you have corrupted from existing plants or brought from whatever kind of bastard hell spawned you, which make them stronger both physically and mentally, but also cause them to become insane or partially insane and thus more susceptible to manipulation by you.

Also, start manipulating via ritual the natural laws of the universe in the area near here to allow summonings and demonic magics to become easier (the effects of these rituals don't have to appear any time soon) and making organs have special, magical powers, which usually only manifest themselves through ritual, most of which require them to be removed from the body (though not necessarily in a way which causes immediate death).

We should be ready for battle.

Cult:Don't do anything evil good.We don't want to be suspicious.
Demon:Lure a soldier, preferably an old and experienced veteran to train your cultists the ways of battle.

Cult: have the priest continue to convert villagers and have the other cultists be generally nice to everyone for the moment to avoid suspicion. (It's a new religion, folks are going to be a little bit freaked out at first so going about carving eldritch symbols everywhere isn't a good idea at the moment, best to keep to ourselves until we have more followers.)

Demon:Continue with the scary dreams and have the doll act like some sort of kids toy. The idea here is that once we have the whole village under our rule we can make more of these dolls and sell them as a means of making money and spreading the corruption.
