Cult specifications:

name: The Aengine
Organization: Each local area has a group of cultists called a gear, the leader is in direct contact with you and called the Axis, the other cultists are called cogs.
Looks: Practical and cheap steel grey wool robes that obscure all features, Axis are identified by a steel band worn as a crown. Anything made by them is soulless, ugly, and practical. Lots of right angles and ordelyness.
Idle actions: Doing abstract maths, but instead of numbers and letters they process otherworldly runes.

Actions: The cultist chose the least fit member of the village and feeds it to you. Also try to get more cultists.

Name: The Unseeing

Level of organization:
Kyrgytzan of the Holy Darkness (us) (Yes, with a title)
     The Blinded One (Human leader)
The Archons (10 most skilled arcani)
The Arcani (Those skilled in magiks) (Yes, with a "k")
     The Militant (Soldier group)
The Fervent (all other cult members)

Appearance:
     Uniforms:
The Fervent: Red hooded robes, marked with the symbol in black on the back
The Militant: Armor, emblazoned with the symbol in red on the back. Black hoods.
The Arcani: Black hooded robes, with the symbol in red.
The Archons: Same as the Arcani, but with the symbol tattooed on their foreheads.
The Blinded one: Eyes stitched shut over empty sockets. Dark clothing, with the Symbol of the Holy Darkness tattooed on his chest in glowing runes.
     Symbol:
An eye, with a dagger plunged through it. (Heavily stylized to look runic, of course)
Temples: Something like the Pantheon in Rome, but with the occulus replaced by a deep hole in the ground, leading to the depths of hell itself. Also, made from black steel rather than white marble.

Idle Actions:
Learn Magic/warfare/fanaticism. Spread cult. Toil for our glory. Catalog (but do not interact with!) potential sacrifices.

OF course, the Militant shall have to wait awhile to be formed, as we have scholars and intellectuals, not soldiers. And the more... horrifying... portions of converting Arevor to the Blinded One should wait as well.

Cult Name: The effervescence of glory
Level of organisation:
We are the highest. All are below us. Directly below us are eight trancendental priests.
Each member of the cult has up to eight vassals. The cultist is responsible for leading and guiding the vassals in all matters of the cult, and spreading instructions form higher up. The cultist is also responsible for the allocation of vassals to their vassals - A cultist will only be allocated vassals if their superior considers them worthy. Each cultist can therefore identify themselves by a number - 24 would be the fourth vassal of the second trancendental priest. 241 would be the first vassal of 24. All vassals will obey they command of those above them, except if it goes against the command of one even higher.
Looks: Whenever they complete a majoy cult task, they tattoo themselves with a symbol. As they spend more time in the cult, their bodies will be covered with the different tattoos. Formal wear would be quite skimpy, to show off all the tattoos they have earned.
Idle Actions: convert new followers

Urists idea is good. Our action is to break the mind of a random passer by and then feed off his insanity and flesh

One quick note: All these ideas are great, but I feel compelled to clarify 'idle actions'. Idle Actions should not be (primarily) practical; they should be signs of the cults existence, for the purpose of flavour only. The presence of a cult in a town will be noticed by those out to notice it, and it is by the Idle Actions that they will be noticed (of course, real actions will also attract attention)

Suggestion for an idle action to go with Urist's one, then;

Signs - Cult members can identify one another by tracing the sign of an orb with a cut through it (essentially similar to Phi), in dust, blood, whatever seems appropriate.  Transient signs are recommended unless you are deliberately trying to send a message (e.g. carved into someone's chest).

As a sign of devotion to You, they run one finger down their right eye.

This is awesome. Throw another vote at Urist's, it's just too good.

One addendum: every part of the priest's conversion to The Eyeless One MUST be be made of his own free will. That's how we know he's ours for eternity.

On the subject of food, we should have our cult set up some of the other villagers as scapegoats for the dreams. Continue with the nightmares. Eventually they'll start turning them in to us, and we will graciously make them disappear. By eating them away from the villagers.

Perhaps we should start with, oh, I dunno, Engineers?

Just kidding Armok.

On a more serious note, eating engineers is a great idea... :P

Anyhow, best targets for eating are the purest you can find. Holymen, virgins, Hebrews or those openly opposing us would be a good choice.

Name: Blood of the New Divinity

Cult definition: A secretive cult based around us. They keep to themselves, identifying each other by coins painted silver, with a gold streak running down the middle. They keep to the shadows, spreading rumors but little more. To enter the cult, a person must walk into the woods and stay out there for three days. Any we reject, we eat, but they don't know that. The cult is highly segregated, with the different teirs and cities largely unaware of each other.

cult action: Start spreading romors about a new god, but make sure not to get caught.

Idle action: some stupid members occasionally leave their coin in a easily spotted spot, and the most cowardly of those may rat out some others.

your action: Separate the dumbest of the new recruits. Eat him.

Urist's idea seems to be winning and I'm bored, so I decided to draw his symbol idea. I also cast another vote, so it's even more likely to win.
