Sort-of. He didn't help move, and he doesn't know where the apartment is, but we are still at the house right now. We went back for dinner, and there's still stuff we won't be able to bring yet.

Went to the wedding of someone I didn't know and would never meet again on the behest(is that the word?) of my mum.
It was pretty shitty, and at one point I developed a twitch because, well... People not listening to me is irritating. People not listening to me in a pressured situation and then /not asking my permission for anything involving me/ gives me a pronounced twitch in my eye.

Started up DF because I had nothing better to do. Created a world and played for about a season. The first migrant wave comes in and I realize I don't have Dwarf Therapist for some reason. I figure it's no problem and go download DT, which I have to do on a public computer and bring back on a flash drive. Turns out my version of DF is outdated. There goes a season of work.

I've never used therapist once before. How important is it that you'd abandon a Fort for not being able to use it? Couldn't you at least take some joy in destroying the Fort before you switch over to a therapist-able Fort?

... it really makes dwarf management several magnitudes easier. Once you've used it a bit and got used to it, going back to non-therapist is frankly kinda' painful -- to the point that, yes, playing until the fort wrecks itself could quite possibly be a net loss of enjoyment. It's that much of a user interface easement.

I find DT HARDER to use then the default interface. I vastly prefer the built-in DFhack labor manager, since you can activate that in-game seamlessly.

I found out about that recently since Fortbent required DFhack to work and gods I have to agree with you. It's so... good. And it feels much, much less jarring to use than tabbing out to the bright buttony interface of Therapist.

Mm... probably depends on if you're using fullscreen or not, I guess. I don't really tab out to DT so much as click on the window that's off to the side, personally.

That said, still definitely prefer DT. Being able to make job profiles and whatnot is a godsend. Don't remember if DFHack has that or not, but I can't recall it so.

Still, either is a definite improvement over none.

It's not specifically about tabbing out. It's just that the DFhack one flows better into normal gameplay than using Therapist does.

I didn't know about that one. I've always used therapist. It just makes it so much easier to micromanage. Without it I always end up forgetting that I have some labor enabled on someone and I screw up something important.

Plus I can make templates and sort all my dwarves into specific identical-labor groups.

I find it easy simply going through my Dwarves as they arrive. Everyone is given farming, masonry or a combination of both and specialists made as needed. Shift + Enter is your friend :P

I just prefer vanilla systems for it. I guess its just because by the point I had cause to use DT (When I tried out masterwork) I dident find it all that useful.

Yah, thats about the same for me.

Rust. I fucking hate rust. Rust is awful. Why must steel rust. Let's just remove all water from Earth so things don't rust. We'll find a way to stay hydrated somehow, but at least I won't have to deal with iron oxide all over the place.
