Whoa damn. If it wasn't for that whole oh-so-American-hyper-consumerist vibe, just reading the first part I'd assume you live in Arstotzka. Bad jokes aside, I totally understand you. I live in a part of Europe where post-Socialism spirit still lingers in places so the Christmas fervor is not yet so strong here... but notice the use of "yet". That's the part that pisses me off. We are in truth just few steps away from going full-on bananas each year during the "Christmas season" which we, luckily, still call "Festival season" or something like that. I dread the day when this whole mess will become so overblown here as it is in USA. If it wasn't for all the rage this sole though induces in me I'd surely post this in "what made you terrified today" thread.

Color me surprised. Somehow I thought Orthodox church is quite strong there. But hey, the sad fact is you don't even need your country to be strongly religious - in my place, there are a lot of people who celebrate Christmas just because you can celebrate it. That is, they ask you what presents you got for Christmas and you try to explain them that, no, you do not celebrate Christmas because you are not religious and they just stare at you dumbfounded. It's truly rage worthy.

Are you serious? How peculiar, I stare dumbfounded at your post right now. Everyone celebrates Christmas! It's a beast of a festival that you can't not take advantage of! Who cares if you are an infidel, so am I! Christmas infidel party for everyone; on Christmas day everyone is a pagan!

Christmas isn't a religious holiday in my mind. Saying you don't celebrate christmas is fine, but I don't see what not being religious has to do with it.
