Destitute is also relative. Many of us, including myself, have been without a computer to post on the internet, a home, food, clean water, a safe place to sleep at all (living on the streets of a big city is dangerous,) etc. I'm richer now than I've ever been, in a decent apartment, with a job that pays more than $10/hr, wife and I have two cars, getting ready for my second kid, but it's still a struggle financially.

The only reason I have a house is because I live with my boyfriend's mother.  I am on disability and make $750 a mo plus 90 in foodstamps. My parents have to pay for my psychiatrist bills because the state won't cover it.

I think I count, I'm not homeless, but I'm pretty damn broke.

Okay I guess I should mention that my income covers two people.

You don't really have to do that here :O By that, I mean, 99.99% of the people present would take your word..um..as your word is(? argh english).

I basically had no personal wealth from highschool until a few years after I graduated college. Lived as frugally as I could, but in truth I got by because of my family. My family grew up middle-lower class, but every Christmas I'd get to live upper class at my grandparents for a few weeks. Then it was back to being relatively lower class.

But now I have a place of my own, a bigger bankroll than most people I know and the future is looking pretty kickass.

...actually, mine are rational, sensible people, who enjoy decent hobbies and life well. They aren't screwed up in the slightest. I'm probably the worst of them.

Sorry
