It was almost fucking half of the work down the fucking drain because apparently I'm too much of a flailing idiot to even consider keeping backups of my shit around. Fuck me.

EDIT: Jesus christ. My community game relied on that. I'm a miserable failure of a human being as usual, getting things right ever just isn't in my portfolio I guess.

Don't beat yourself up so much over it. Use it as a learning experience, instead. This is just a lesson in always having backups.

You greatly underestimate my antipathy towards this. If it were anything else, it'd be an "oh well move on start over" kind of thing, but no, it's fortbent claspects, my greatest enemy, the one thing I hate the most working on and love the most when done.

People who use "freedom of speech" as a shorthand for "you aren't allowed to criticize me".  That's not what that law means...
Freedom of speech just means that the government isn't allowed to arrest you for criticizing them or their actions. That doesn't mean that nobody is allowed to stop you saying whatever you want. If you're going to say stupid crap, you should have to deal with the consequences.
"just means." One should not ominously declare that all should deal with undefined "consequences" for expressing any opinion which could fall under the vague umbrella of "stupid crap," nor should one be willfully limiting their own rights to "the government isn't allowed to arrest you for criticizing them."
That IS just what it means though.  I mean its a tiny bit too narrow, it restricts some other things the government can do, but its a good summary.  If someone who isn't a government employee punches you for expressing an opinion, they didn't violate your freedom of speech because they can't because that law doesn't apply to ordinary citizens.  They still committed a crime, because that's assault, but they didn't violate your freedom of speech.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

Libel, slander, and hate speech are things.

Doesn't assault override battery?

Not in US law, anyway. You can assault someone without battering them, though I forget the exact particulars as to how. But it's possible.

Making threatening gestures while saying "I'm going to kick your ass" is assault, should it be determined that you fully intended to go through with the thread.

Huh, okay. That is not a nuance of the law that I was aware of.

It seems strange you can assault someone without actually assaulting them. It's liek the difference between attempted and actual murder.

Wait, does Glorious Murica not have a distinction between assault and threatened assault?

What?

Edit: Wait, apparently NZ doesn't either?

The sod is going on!?
