Directed by the guy behind Snow White and the Huntsman.
I'm doubtful on the acting talent and the writing, but do we know the directing was bad? I mean, it was his first major gig, so of course it's not going to be a grade A blockbuster super awesome movie. Haven't seen it, so maybe it was a shoddy mess in directing as well?

Goddamnit, I'm sick AGAIN. I swear to god I'm going to start wearing a surgical mask, asian-style, for these business trips. Seems like a 1/3rd chance per trip I'm going to catch someone's BS from the flight.

People not understanding basic things. Replace the depleted roll of paper towels. Do not put heavy unbalanced loads on the rim of the garbage can. Do not call dishes with food bits still on them clean. These are basic things. I'm a basic person, I understand basic things. I don't understand BASIC things, but that's besides the point.

Also it seems my boss was in a Bitch Class-A mood today and yesterday, almost causing one of the supervisors to quit, and of course I took some indirect fire from that.

And just before getting off the bus, I three more people failing to understand something very basic after they walked right in the path of the bus. It's very simple: human vs bus, bus always wins. No they weren't hit, in no part due to their own actions.

I... guess it's rage? I dunno. But. Old people. Rustoleum and an interior primer are not the same thing. And the former is really not supposed to be used when your only meaningful ventilation is half a screen door.

Incidentally, I've come home from painting, for a few hours, after the dizziness kicked in :-\

Hopefully when I head back it won't be quite as much as a deathtrap.

Tobacco products have been banned from TV and radio in the US for a while now. Wikipedia says since the 70s. I thought this was common knowledge (the ban, not the exact year it went into effect), but then I realized I'm not exactly sure why I knew this (but I'm quite certain I knew it before Wikipedia was around).
Something's rather odd, then, because I quite remember the stuff on TV -- malboro and camel, in particular -- and I was definitely born after the 70s. Shit was also basically everywhere else, to the point of noted irritation.
Shit, I forgot to include in my post the fact that the ban was only for advertisements. But, yeah, if you've heard or seen full-on ads for tobacco products on the TV or radio past the 70's, something rotten is going on.

If that's what I think it is...I've actually heard that if you pay them, they will unencrypt your files. A few customers of ours have gotten that.

Paying them is risky.  They might or might not unlock it.  Talk to the guys at https://www.us-cert.gov/ , they should be able to help you.  They found the key for the original Cryptolocker Trojan, this might not be the same but they can at least give it a shot.

(Also they report cyber security alerts and will send you stuff along that line in the mail.  They're good to follow for some extra paranoia in your life)

Yes, but its 500$. Which is probably not worth it. And now I'm going to have to go through my computer and check EVERYTHING to make sure it works. And redownload everything.

This is why everyone should have a white-hat hacker on speed dial.

I'd settle for a gray hat, I suppose.

Are the files actually encrypted (which would take a looooong time) or just blocked with a password?

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Definitely encrypted. At least Nethack still works.
