For the record, I think feet are nasty. They smell. They have bunions, boils, blisters and fungus.

But basically all of those things are caused or made worse by wearing shoes! :v

And suddenly the rage thread is Shredder. Or Krang, maybe?

Which do you prefer, Nenj? Dude whose mortal enemy is a rat, or brain inside the belly of a half-naked fat man wearing spandex underwear and boots? And I guess some kind of... overall pauldrons, I'unno.

FFFUUUUUCCKKK I think I lost my iPod. And I use it for like, EVERYTHING. I even keep my passwords on it.
I know that if I lost it it would have been in my dorm bathroom, so hopefully it turns up in lost and found.

Edit: Turns out it was in the keyboard tray of my desk. ...Apparently I thought that was a good place to put it before going to the bathroom. Now to put my room back together.

I got up this morning, looked at the clock.
5:00 AM.
Fuck yeah, computer time before school!
Get downstairs.
Clock says 6:30 AM.
The clock in my room must have ran out of juice.
Because I'm sitting here extremely sad, and angry, and bored right now.

Similar to that, I rolled over, discovering I was awake. I look at the clock, 3:30AM. Bleh. I put my head back down. A few minutes later, I start hearing noises as my parents are getting up for some reason. I look at the clock again, 5:00AM. I don't recall falling asleep.

Also my parents usually don't get up at 5:00AM. It's not unheard of, though, and I'm up around 5:30-5:45.

PRE-EDIT: And now it's raining, while I'm waiting for the bus and posting this.

EDIT: And the rain stopped after about a minute, and suddenly it's brightening.

I really hate being the only person in my family with a job, the only person with a driver's licence or car, and the one person who's opinion doesn't fucking matter.

If I were more heartless, I'd just start telling people to shove it and refuse to help them, because nobody gives a shit if I've been working the whole day, and I'm tired, and I've been sick for the past half a week.

I'm glad ya ain't heartless.

Now what makes me rage are those who...well, I don't exactly rage. Just be  :-\ ...at those who give up, and then on a parallel to giving up (due to lacking support mostly), they do heartless things because of the idea that nobody else cares.
...I think I'm in the wrong thread with this but mmph ._. must respond.

You are the only person with a job and a car?  You have power.  Use it.  Tell them to pack sand, and if they don't like it, they can get a job/car themselves.  Stop being a goddamn doormat.

Shakerag put it a bit harshly...but yea, essentially what he said.

Also, on the pyjama/shoe thing, if you were to go out in pyjamas in the morning with slippers on, the police would pick you up. As my granny found out.

I realize that I could tell them that, but I don't want to be the kind of person that lords power over people.
I don't want to be someone I hate, and it's tempting to just give up, and go "I want to be evil!" and be an ass, but I'm not going to let myself become that.
I want to be nice, I just want to stop being punished for it. :'(

...And my work hat just fucking broke.
Perfect.

If people walk all over you, stopping them from doing it isn't being evil, it's being sensible. Because after they realise they can't, then they'll put on a semblance, at least, of being nice to you. Then you can be nice to your heart's content.

So, there's being nice, and then there's punishing yourself. You're firmly in the latter territory - you are not obligated to do everything that's asked of you. It's not wrong to, say, tell them you expect them to be less demanding in some other area, or to request that they pay you back gas money and car maintenance costs, or something else. Being nice here isn't doing whatever they ask every time - but it would be nice to do it and tell them what you expect if they want help next time, for instance. If they then make the decision not to reciprocate in the meantime, then they've told you they don't actually want your help that badly anyway. Might as well respect that, right?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

My brother downplayed Ebola.

He said the fact that it was stupid that people were scared of the fact that it was in America, and that people shouldn't be scared until it becomes a really big deal. He also said that a 70% mortality rate "isn't as bad as they're making it seem".

DUDE. IT IS PRETTY BAD. COMING INTO CONTACT WITH ANYONE WHO HAS IT MEANS YOU ARE ALMOST DEFINITELY GOING TO CATCH IT. IT HAS A 70% MORTALITY RATE. AS IN, IF YOU CATCH IT, YOU ARE PROBABLY GOING TO DIE.
