I used to want to be a lawyer to fight for fairness, but then I realized that you can't defeat the system with the system.
Sure you can - just look at the social democrats in Europe! And it's much more effective than molotov cocktails.
Eh, still, it's more effective to be a politician and change the system rather than trying to use a flawed system as your aegis.
Yeah, being a lawyer and then trying to change the system by winning cases in court would be dumb.

Lots of politicians are lawyers, though.

3?

That's pretty homophobic of you Graknorke. Gay people are perfectly capable of doing the monogamy thing, ya know.

Jesus.

His exact response : "Dwarf fortress.... sounds gay".

If we're talking "gay" as in "merry in a slightly old-fashioned way" then yes, it sure is.

If we're talking about homosexuality, it's got that, too.

I guess that could make an unofficial tagline: Dwarf Fortress: Something for Everyone

Generally I get along pretty well with m'step father. Bit of a conservative fellow, but generally has his heart in the right place, and has been damn good for my mother, over all.

When he calls at nine in the morning to remind me of the colossal inhuman fuckup that came after the event that happened too fucking long ago to care about -- that I wouldn't even have remembered, if the gods were merciful and that call hadn't happened -- and then go on some fucking xenophobic bullshit spiel about how 1/3rd of the human race is irredeemably evil and should be killed, is not one of those times.

It's very goddamn rare I'll actually hang up on a non-telemarketer. Someone trying to tell me the tens of thousands of civilian deaths that have resulted from american fuckups in the middle east was justified is one of those occasions. I did not want to be this pissed off this morning.

Wow, that is a fucked up start to a morning. You usually you need to have your coffee and get on the internet to hear or read something that terrible.

Kinda reminds me of when I got into a conversation with a kid at school who was complaining that Hitler was too lenient on people, and going on about how if he had done it, it would have been far more efficent.
In a completely serious voice, as well, no sarcasm or anything.

To be fair, Hitler did make a lot of mistakes in effective planning. He may have been a charismatic leader, but not so much a good military strategist.

Keep an eye on the kid. If he ever tries to become a painter of some kind, then he is indeed the reincarnation of the man.
