Woke up tired because my sister came home last night unannounced, came into my room(which we share whenever she does sleep here, which hasn't been in over a month), did stuff, and left. And my mom and I had to go do some thing with the IRS, but I couldn't because A) I don't have photo ID and B) the don't actually do what I needed there at the office, though my mom begged hard enough to let them do it for her.

Steam told me that if I want to sell any more things on the marketplace I have to do this one thing that might require me to pay taxes. As a disabled person on SSI that means that I pretty much have to wait until next year to sell trading cards I don't want.

Also, the sewers run in Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall with the ghouls and the water pumps is annoying as all hell. That's one I'm going to have to skip out on entirely I bet.

Looks like the Dota 2 coverage on ESPN was well received by the filthy casual non-gaming peasantry.
I dunno, a big sweaty neckbeard proposing on TV sounds pretty funny.
I'll admit, the snarky tweet "ESPN2 is showing whales proposing marriage wtf" made me laugh a bit.

Note for future travelers who come across this message by space drug induced arm spasms: This post is a joke.
I kinda want to sig this for all my future posts.

You guys have a lot of offhand knowledge on feudal Japan >.>
According to the discussion of swords I see often in Cata DDA thread, apparently most Bay12ers are like history professors specializing on swords or something.
Let me talk to you about Oakeshott typology. :3

I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say "Fuck the IRS". Just now, trying to get something done via their website, it spits out a warning saying my personal information is incorrect, despite the fact it most certainly wasn't, and that I can't try again for 24 hours. The problem is I need this stuff done today, or some serious problems will happen.

Reading these tweets gave me cancer. Saying "tweet" gave me cancer too.
Idk, some of these people are just confused and a few of them are joking.
Some of them do certainly cause cancer, though.

My question is, why is DOTA a 'sport' and not every other twitch-based video game ever made before or after it? I don't really think a MOBA is a sport, same way Risk isn't a sport. I guess there's the competitive element, but that's in everything, so why is every competitive event in our lives not televised on ESPN? Like, racing to get a parking spot at Wal-Mart despite you not wanting to be there. That's interesting enough to me to watch on ESPN, atleast, more so than any MOBA.

Why is every other sport a sport?

Because enough want to watch it to make advertisements very profitable.

And like I said, why is every other twitch-based video game that has been popular not a sport?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Lobbying. DOTA2 has been trying to get recognized, others have not.

Yeah, I'd still rather see actual sports, possibly even showing the women playing the sports like they actually do, instead of pandering to MOBA people who don't watch ESPN anyway.

Source? Where are your metrics on the profitability of DOTA2's showing? I think you ought to give that assumption a bit of time. ESPN shows new things to test them.

Are you saying Dotas popularity can't possibly be causing it to be recognized as a sport because other popular games aren't yet?
