Kingdom:    Animalia
Phylum:    Chordata
Class:    Mammalia
Order:    Primates
Family:    Hominidae
Tribe:    Hominini
Genus:    Homo
Species:    H. sapiens

Very hard question, but answerable.

You forgot the Domain Eukaryota. Also all the random unranked clade shit scattered between all those classifications.

A question on my Biology test:

Write the full classification of the Human species.

wthsidkwldornemdkd
... Is that even answerable?  I mean, without limiters, it's going to take a ridiculously long time to answer.  Wouldn't it?

Did you google it or retrieve it from memory? :o If the latter, you are a very strange man. X3
The asnwer was (in Korean) all of that plus Eukaryota and minus one of those. Funnily, the Korean wiki page has more classifications than the English one (24 vs 8) because it includes all the subclasses and superorders and stuff like that.

Another question was "Write the nucleotide structure of the restriction enzyme EcoR1. I didn't expect such a blatant memorization problem to appear, because all the practice ones gave you what you needed.

I copied that, but if you pressed me or I had reason to suspect it was coming I could probably get most of it from memory. The hardest part is remembering what goes where.

The subclasses and superorders are an exercise in hair-splitting futility, so it tends to get stripped out of most sources I've seen. Eight is doable, twenty-four leads to taxonomists committing suicide.

I could trot that off anytime. Had to do it for my biology exam.

Ah, so it was mainly the larger classifications.  Usually when something says "all" in a problem, I try to take it to the furthet tangent

Yeah, I also lost some points on the order. I omitted the tribe, miswrote primates (in Korean, the answer is 포유강, or primate-family,  and I wrote 포유류강, which is kinda like primate and then family, hard to explain), and mixed up the order :(

EcoR1 or H. sapiens?

I couldn't do any other species, but I know the classification tree thingy.

I have memorized the full classifications of humans, a few canids, and some seals, e.g.
<--Harp seal
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Phocidaea
Tribe: Phocini
Genus: Pagophilus
Species: Groenlandicus

Is the "Updating World" step when starting a new game supposed to be really really really slow?
Was this step even in the last version?

It moved along fairly quickly for me in a smaller world -- but it's basically simulating another two weeks of worldgen, so yeah, it's probably going to take a bit.

It wasn't in the last version though, no. It's progressing time for two weeks, to let the effects of your adventurer/fortress/whatever pan out and mess with stuff.

I wish people would notify me about the things they leave in the fridge when they decide to leave for a long time. Half a kilo of rotten buckwheat porridge isn't my idea of appetizing.

No, it wasn't, and it was literally the entire point of the update.

New DF comes out, and I'm up at my mum's place and can't play it. >.>
Oh well, I'll have to grab some cheap liquor when I do get home and do a 'blind'* Drunk Fortress turn to make up for it.
