Apparently Valiant Hearts requires uPlay.
A shame. I actually wanted to buy it at full price.
What's so bad about uPlay? I mean, other than the annoying launcher, which plenty of games have on their own.
uPlay breaks alot more than Steam or Origin and the User Agreements Ubisoft runs on are very despicable.

Had lots of deleted saves because their cloud saving didn't work and also problems with never ending updates that broke at the last moment.

I didn't get to play as my favorite multiplayer player in AC Revelations because of a mixup with having a different Uplay account on my PC and my Xbox.  (The only way to play as her was to have an achievement in a previous game, which I had on xbox)

Not sure if I couldn't access the xbox account on my PC or if I just messed up, but damn that was annoying.  I'm still way more mad about that than I should be.

Edit: It was the Courtesan, because killing people with metal fans fuck yeah.  None of the Revelations characters had interesting kill animations :/

...well, fuck.
I don't suppose there's a non-uPlay option?

Not a legal one, insofar as I can tell, no.

Blaaaah.

I mean, uPlay's not as bad as some things but I really don't see the need for a second launcher, username, and password.

My parents forgot about picking me up from summer camp.
I stayed there two hours after everyone left.

My dad got angry at me for not calling anyone or doing anything. I lied and told him I fell asleep and that's why I didn't call them.
I really just wanted to know how long it would take them to remember me.

My theory was right: They remembered five minutes before it was time to take me to a friend's house to watch the World Cup. Don't know how much time I would have been there if it hadn't been for that.

Your parents still suck.  :-\

That's grade A terrible parenting right there.

Well...on context in that point, the anger was sorta justified...in what I guess his point of view (in knowing Cmega's parents) that you...well, lacked the initiative? Sometimes people forget (yeah, I know -_- but in that situation, it's more of YEAH, I know Dx).

Though I'm a bit biased by my context in which the same-ish thing happened to me before. Parents did think I had the initiative--I didn't, but learned quickly after that ._. (though yeah, the forgetfulness was there but there are minute differences anyways).

I don't blame his parents for being annoyed Cmega didn't call them (I don't blame you either, Cmega). It's just that forgetting about your kid for two hours is way extreme.

Way extreme isn't quite the word I'd use. It... kinda' depends on the time perception of folks involved, imo. I know several people, myself included, for whom losing an hour or two (or three, or...) is incredibly easy, and overall a fairly minor thing. Madre saying they'd be at a place at a time and not showing up until 1-2 hours later is... just something that happens occasionally. Same for other family. Not much of a deal for me, personally, but I can chill for several hours staring at a wall without much trouble, so m'probably a bit of an outlier, ha.

Extreme, to me, would be past the six hour mark -- somewhere between three and six, I start getting worried about folks, wondering if something's happened to 'em, but it's not until a good chunk of the day goes by that I'd say things have gone categorically too far (though that depends somewhat on the time of day -- it's much less of a thing to miss time during daylight hours than night, if driving is involved). Sixty minutes isn't that long of a time period, and two of those isn't terribly much longer than that. Easy to slip through that amount of time without much trouble.

... but yeah, when you're transport and you've said you're going to be at a place at a specific time, you do have something of a responsibility to either do so, or contact the transportee(s). Jerk move, C's parent(s).

Javascript, why do you not have operator overloading?

Quote
this.velocity.addBy(F.divide(this.mass));
could have been
Quote
this.velocity += F/this.mass;
with overloading. So much simpler!

(velocity and F are vectors, if that's not obvious).

Such wizardry. I don't think I'll ever understand operator overloading.

Oh, are we ranting about Uplay? Yay!
Normally I'm rather ambivalent to these things, but I bought Splintercell Blacklist on sale the other day, and the bloody thing refuses to connect to the online portion, either the stat tracky thing or multiplayer. Furthermore, it crashes every 30 minutes, and my research says this is likely because it's trying to connect to something online and failing? Anyways, the worst part is, doing a bit of digging (aka opening a forum) shows this has been an issue for almost a year, and I can't find anyone saying they really resolved it... I have a ticket in with their support, but I'm not overly hopeful...
