So a scheduled visit with my brother has gone a bit wrong cos he's in the midst of a panic about having to bring some foreign friends of his on a walk around town and feels that having me around would make things more worrisome. Fair enough. I decide to not come along.

Except my dad is saying I have to go up. According to him my brother will calm down before the end of the day and be suddenly a great host. I counter that when he's in a panic like this he doesn't calm down from it fully until after a day or so. He dismisses this. My mother says I don't have to go up if I don't want to. His last sentence was a little muffled, but it ended with "fuck-all around here" so it's probably referring to my social habits.

Shit. In all likelihood, I've got a first class ticket on the awkward social encounter train.

There is a fine line between age and maturity. Those children happened to be lacking both. I kindly request that you not complain about children as a whole simply because a few idiots wanted to be idiots.

As an idiot, I found that quite offensive, IG. I don't do that to animals or the environment. :P
Seriously though, I may want to destroy the planet, but that's just wrong.

Wait, did the brick ever get put back? Did it even get removed? I'm confused. Poor brick.

It seems quite clear the brick was the real victim here.

On a more serious note, the best punishment for the kid is not getting what he wants. Ever. That'll show him.

Last I saw the brick was just left on the top of a former embankment; its fate is left unknown to me.

I'm mostly just confused by you seeming to get pissed at kids... not throwing a brick into a canal? And some other one messing with a turtle a bit? This is some strange british anger, isn't it? I guess there's... ducks in the canal that might get hit, or... something?

I can understand being annoyed at kids being kids, though. It takes a while before that whole amorality thing starts wearing off, or so I hear. Something about brain development, I'unno.

Obviously the best way to prevent this happening again is to sit them down beside the fire in a calm environment, and get out the Good Book. Let them see the cracked, leather cover that had seen many years flow past, and put their hands on the cross etched deep into it. Gently sit them down and open it, read to them from it, fill their little lives with its wonder. Then, show them the paragraph most appropriate to the situation. In this that would be "An eye for an eye." Then, hit them over the head with the book.

Close enough to a brick.

It's more a thing of not being taught good values in that part, not 'kids being kids'. Or rather understanding of the action and its consequences.

Yeah, kinda what Frumple said. Nothing I gathered from that indicated they intended to kill any animals with it, though they should have left it alone. And the brat that said that to his father understandably would annoy you.

My bit about it being wrong was about killing animals for no reason, which you said had happened before. That's messed up.

Besides, bricks aren't even capable of moving. The poor, defenseless little things would never make it in this world on their own - have you seen what Mother Nature does to them?

'Might get hit.' I'm not sure if you really caught the implication of why they were throwing the bricks. They were aiming for them. This is not the first time children have gone around bricking swans, geese and ducks. This time the target was the terrapin.

Okay, now, I hate ducks, because...Reasons, but still, that's kind of...Uhm...Awful and the police MAY need to get involved because seriously children shouldn't be throwing fucking bricks at animals.
