However, I just saw an article posted from the IFL Science page about an owner almost killing their "vegan kitten." Yes, you read that right: Some asshole tried raising their kitten on a vegan diet.

One side of my headphones has gone half-dead, and it doesn't have an obvious method of opening.

At least for the headphones I have, they've got plastic covers on the outside which cover the clip ends. Sticking a knife into a seam and levering it open is how I'd open up the ones I've got (6 Logitech USB headphones). Of course, there wasn't much I could do to fix my old ones since I lacked a soldering iron. If they're cheap ones, I've found the wires tend to get jolted loose after being dropped a number of times.

I'll have to try that. I'm always terrified of opening modern hardware though, because it often breaks, is glued together, or just doesn't clip back properly. Not sure I have much choice, as I paid enough for these not to want to spend more money on another pair. They've held up pretty well to being used for something like ten hours a day on non-holiday weekdays so far.

What's the name and brand of them? Keep in mind though, I'm not a repair guy or anything. I'm willing to open my own headphones to try and fix them, but that's because I bought them for around $30 AUD.

Clipping them back together is hard, mostly in trying to get the cables to sit in their holders while you close the casing in my experience.

Brand is Audionic, no idea of the name. Popping the front off looks reversible, and the thing wrong is what I thought was wrong, so this should be an easy fix. Thanks for the advice.

Eh no problem. You should be able to find the product name by (in Windows 7 at least, should be the same for other Windows versions) going to the speaker icon on the toolbar in the bottom right, right clicking on it and opening up "Playback Devices". The device in the list with a green tick is the current default and should have the name next to the picture.

I'm just saying that it's stupid to force your lifestyle choice over your child, like what this "furry parent" person is doing.
