Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Glee; I've only seen snippets of the show as I pass through the living room as my sister watches it.

Apparently the token Gay character 'grew out' of being gay by hooking up with a woman, it must have been a 'just going through a phase' thing.

While that was funny, I was referring to kaenneth's rage.

Last day of work for about 3 months, not counting a single weekend a couple of weeks from now. The only things on my calendar are some dead-end litigation and an unholy wedding. I'm going to have a great summer!

(Explanation: The unholy wedding is my mom and stepdad's in less than two weeks)

In a sane world, a graduation checklist would look like this.

1) Did you pay your bills? y/n
2) Did you pass your classes? y/n
3) If you answered yes to the above, good luck and have fun in the real world.

Not really RAEG, but more of a passive "oh my god i am so done with this bullshit" that's been hanging around for the past two months.

I find it cute that tablet keys try to imitate depth, even playing a snapping noise when you activate them, as if the tablet is trying to make you forget how inferior it is to the computer.

Well, for me at least, tablet keyboard is inherently inferior to computer keyboard, because it is based on touching a flat surface, which I find somewhat uncomfortable in the long run, and less precise. It doesn't necessarily mean tablets as a whole are inferior, but their control scheme for typing things is inferior.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

The only things tablet s do better is record my location alongside the usual details.

unlike a computer, you *can* carry a tablet in your pocket and use it seamlessly while standing, which makes them excellent workplace tools. They don't replace computers per se, but they're a really, really useful add-on. It makes the daily routine much easier...

Hnnnng, how are quarter-time assistantships even a goddamn thing. I have no right to complain, but I'm going to since it would leave me about $8500 in the hole, while also fucking with my ability to get a part-time job thanks to opportunity costs. Sadly, it's still better than nothing (slightly), but I really hope there's an opportunity to haggle here (there almost certainly isn't).

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I hate soft keyboards with my entire being. A decent keyboard program with word prediction makes it bearable, but just barely. I always type with my non-active fingers resting on the keyboard, which I can't do on a tablet.
