I missed all that context, FD, and thanks for that! :X
It...seriously looked like a severe case of curiosity here though.

"Evolutionist" is a pet peeve of mine. Call me a Technologist while you're at it (because I have a fundamental understanding of how that works, too! Hint: Not magic,) and see how many people laugh at you.

Yeah, it's one of those things where you really miss a lot of stuff that you could afford to miss if you don't have the socio-cultural context. By which I mean it matters only as an intellectual exercise because taking evangelicals seriously is a quick path to insanity.  :P

If you attach "-ist" to scientific theories you get some funny phrases.

I believe in General Relativity. That makes me a General Relativist.
I believe in the Second Law of Thermodynamics. That makes me a... Second Law of Thermodynamicist? Entropist?

See, I don't know how well that works, though. I believe in Rocket Science, but that doesn't make me a Rocket Scientist.

That's because science is a (group of) professions and disciplines, not a belief system. The fundamental misunderstanding remains the same.

I liked how the music cut out right at the point where she said "I like him." Maybe I'm reading too much into it. It just seemed to hang there a second before it cuts to guy studying to save his daughter from a friendship and a liberal education with bible logic.

Right, but rocket science is a discipline, not a theory.

Right, but rocket science is a discipline, not a theory.

They're the same thing here. Rocket science is a crapload of theory that (surprise) aligns pretty much perfectly with reality.
