At what point does the sheer volume of purring cats turn from a positive to a negative?

At what point does it become deadly?

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

extrapolating from this i'll assume the average weight of a cat is 10.75 pounds which is 4.88kg apparently

i can't reasonably expect myself to find the precise amount of force it takes to crush a ribcage, but i'll assume you'll have a pretty damn hard time when under approsimately 61 cats

I'm not sure, but these are exactly the same points, I can assure you.

At any rate, it's my experience that cats are composed entirely of whatever emotion they happen to be experiencing at the time. Which is to say, happy cats are made of happies.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Presumably, at the catsplosion initiation threshold.

I'm assuming that even a mass of cats so large that it collapses into a black-hole would emit some sort of deadly fuzzylove radiation, instead of Hawking radiation, correct?

My mother just turned up, completely unannounced and without notice, and expected me to be happy to see her.
I hate unexpected visits. Why is 'surprising' someone seen as a nice thing to do? She couldn't even text me to say she was coming or anything. -_-

Because it shows that, given the chance, they won't take the opportunity to murder you. Surprised > Murdered.

And then you get mad at seeing her?

That's the thing, I would have been perfectly alright with it if she'd just let me know she was going to visit.
When people just turn up on my doorstep unannounced and suddenly expect me to interact with them, that just stresses and annoys me. I wasn't exactly in a good mood in the first place, either, which doubtless has a lot to do with it.

My sister often does the same thing, just shows up and then gets mad at me when I'm rude and abrupt with her.
You'd think they'd know me better by now. >.>

You're rude and abrupt at people :v They get mad. So you get mad.
Uhm  :-\ It's not their fault that they...exist, y'know.

@Haspen: Yeah... maybe it's my fault for not reminding people of the fact more often.  :-X I don't know.

Tir, I'm not (usually) rude and abrupt with people if, say, I know they're coming to visit.
Then I'd be happy to see them, more often than not. Personally I think, except in extreme cases or emergencies, just showing up without warning and expecting a person to drop whatever they're doing and interact with you is rather rude, especially in this case as I have nowhere to entertain visitors in my shoebox. I was somewhat hungover, too, which probably made me even grouchier.
Even just a text to say she was on her way would have been enough, and then I'd be mentally prepared to be good company.

I just told all the people I know that surprise visits are a bad idea as I am frequently away from my flat, so if they want to visit me, they should give me a call first so we can organise this. It works really well so far.

Yeah, no, see, I am usually doing things when I'm at home. Somebody showing up unannounced interrupts whatever I had planned for the day. Even if I like seeing somebody as a general thing, showing up without warning implies they don't really give a shit about what I wanted to do, which is not a pleasant experience.
