Unfortunately, using an ice axe on wolves just tests its usefulness against wolves, not its usefulness as a climbing tool. Unless you're climbing wolves ... but at that point I think you have more to worry about.

For reference, each square is about two inches across. Hand forged and filed by me. Not quite sharp, so as a weapon it's less sword, and more metal club, but it was closer than my spear.
It looks like it'd be uncomfortable to hold. Ever thought about wrapping the hilt with something like leather, or even just electrical tape?

Because it's not finished yet? I still need to do some more filing and heat treat and temper and make the guard and wrap the handle and make the scabbard and finally sharpen and polish the damn thing. Making a sword takes time.

If there were ever a reason to climb a wall of wolves, someone would have invented a wolf-climbing axe already. I'm sure there are plenty of axes that could be considered wolf-killing axes, though.

I was under the impression that Black Americans benefited genetically/physically from slave breeding as well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I don't think there's much evidence for that. This seems like a good post explaining why that's not true.

Quote
it had more to do with the “luck” of the slave to that point.

Right, so basically the slave population was naturally selected for their amount of luck. And then they got lucky with other lucky people, leading to a luck spiral. The genetic luck then causes a disproportionate amount of the best trainers and talent scouts to notice the ones who are good at sports at the exact right moment.

I see.
