I'll say this much: class forums really show how many people actually bother doing their work. Only about half the class actually bothered to do it, and some of them didn't even do it properly. It's actually a bit odd, being able to freely see the work of other students.

[EDIT] Neat, apparently the teachers can set time limits on discussion boards as a type of 'due date' for those discussions. When the timer runs out, the entire board disappears from the student view, so that only the teacher can see the contents. Also, I double checked, and the amount of people who actually did the assignment is closer to 20%, not half the class. [/EDIT]

Forums aren't bad for informal work and discussions, but when the forum itself is lacking basic things such as being able to edit your own post, it's a bit too counter-intuitive for me.

Though I get the paranoid feeling that the inability to edit posts is deliberate, in case of something like arguments.

Why doesn't the school use Simple Machines Forum?

Every time you switch grammars, I'm really confused for a second.

Edit: "Grammars" seems wrong, but I can't think of another word for it.

Life Orientation teachers.

"Tell me some things about yourself I don't know!"
Hmm. That I habitually lie to LO teachers about my personal details?
That I have never in my life followed one of those study timetables you make me write up every year?
That I have never trusted you in the slightest and probably never will?
Perhaps that I watch you while you sleeep...

"What have you accomplished in the last year?"
Why do you care!? Why should I tell you about my life?
Why don't you answer some questions?
 How's your marriage doing?
And your job? Shame about that pay cut the other day, eh?
Do you play sports? Oh, why not? Did you know that you'll die if you don't start (or so they tell me)?
Have you learned any new skills recently?
 How's your sex life?
 Had an affair recently?
Am I creeping you out yet? Because I should be.

And they seem to all genuinely believe they're being helpful. Perhaps it helps some kids, but I really wish there was an opt-out button somewhere, because this is just a waste of my time. I could be doing something more useful or at least more fun!

Those are opening questions so they can get a sense of what to do, I think.
Or maybe they're just incompetent.

Writing foreign-language poetry is difficult.

Poetry is difficult. Embrace the pain and burn it as fuel for your journey, or just stream it into your work by the barrel. Hell, if you find native language poetry easy you're better than a lot of people already.

It's a mass-applied syllabus. As far as I can tell, they have no need to know the information; it's just meant to make you 'consider yourself' or some such garbage.

Drag then to their snips lads!
I personally never liked those questions in general :P

Always felt unease when having to answer... Might be me just afraid to tell about myself to some person who is trying to help... Some form of 'social' thing because apparently I'm unable to function well enough in situations involving the ever present problem of *gasp* bullying. And of course it's my parents doing it and wanting me to do it and since I can't say no or I'll have to give a reason because while yes a reason is good, I just... Gah.

I digress however. I actually did talk to this one person. Theeeen I find out that and possibly more that I disclosed, after being told it wouldn't leave the room. I felt like asking this person why they broke that inherent trust! I felt like I could trust that teacher but apparently trust isn't needed in that line of work.

'But Iceblaster' you say in your reply, 'They do that for at risk students along with all students in general' I do know that is true and really, thirteen year old me should've been smarter.

However this rant has gone on too long for a standard 'Ooooh yeah I hate that brother' thing.

At least writing Latin hendecasyllabics is more edifying than the "Neckbeard Valentine's Poem" I composed.

Remember that "fuckyeahdeadcrackers" guy I saw on tumblr a few days ago? He still hasn't been banned yet, despite the fact that at least 30 people have reported him.

There once was a lovesick Bay12er,
Who couldn't decide how to tell her,
He dithered all day, over what he should say,
And before it began it was over.
