Ha ha ha! Welcome to our hell, Sky! Hope you're not in the lower income brackets!

... seriously though, got any details? Can't help but be curious how they've decided to shaft you poor folks.

Mainly, the amount insured by the government is differentiated depending on your income, and thus your contribution to the insurance. It also lowers the amount payed to the hospital, disincentivating the hospitals from providing state-of-the-art technology like robotic surgery. Finally, some interpretations of the law might allow for-profit hospitals, with all that entails.

The driving force behind this law is to shift money from paying for petty checkups and stuff to paying for the Four Major Diseases (cancer, heart disease, stroke, rare diseases) President Park promised that she would provide better insurance for without raising taxes. So instead of raising taxes and providing better benefits for everyone, money is being shunted off the kind of insured things that normal people in their day-to-day life actually want (checkups, cold/flu medicine, rashes and inflammations...) to the big ticket diseases.

So it's not quite the US hell of healthcare; only for the smaller things.

Eesh, cart before horse and whatnot. Or something. My memory's telling me they've already ran the numbers and found that the whole "petty checkup" thing (i.e., preventative care) is a net benefit when dealing with the deadlier things (both in terms of overall bottom line and effectiveness! It's great.), as well (since they get caught in petty checkups, before they're life and pocket-destroying).

Which, y'know, makes me think the driving force isn't actually... well, no, it would be to shift money from paying for petty checkups into the big four, just at a higher overall cost and lower overall effectiveness. Which, hey. Wonder who's profiting from the change, and how deep their lobby (equivalent... dunno if/what the korean style of that stuff is) pockets were :-\

President Park hasen't kept of her promises so far. Not expecting much more from her, really, other than even more privitalization. Maybe she wishes to be the Margaret Thatcher of South Korea?

Park is a she o.O?
Park is a family name, what made you discount the probability that she's a she?

Oh, I get it, you're being racist and sexist and saying Asians would never elect a woman president. Check your privilege.

Please don't do this. If you're joking, you're lumping in legitimate problematic elements with the 14 year old bullies who try to vent their rage in terms that they find acceptable and yet the rest of the movement does not. If you're being sincere, you're acting like a 14 year old bully trying to vent your rage in terms you find acceptable, and the rest of the movement does not. There is no need to be confrontational about a legitimate question.

My "machismo" has taken a hit after I failed spectaculalrly in my effort to take down my old back door and replace it with a new one. 3 hours of effort only to find that I have no idea how hinges work, and ended up putting the old one back. Time to crawl to a carpenter with my tail between my legs and pay someone who knows what they are doing to do the job properly. What a fucking waste of the evening.

What kind of door do you have that "Open the door, unscrew the hinges connected to the frame" is impossible?

See, thats exactly what I thought, but no... going from a stable door with 4 hinges to a hardwood door with 3 heavy duty hinges of ever so slightly different thickness really fucks up how the door swings.

Well you could say that about a lot of stuff and soon we'll be making feces jokes all day long.

Anyway the reason I'm surprised is that Sky has been complaining about him her for quite a while now and apparently never (as far as I noticed) used gender pronouns.

I'll make up for it be playing Kpop in the dj channel :v

Do you have a chisel to deepen the points on the frame (and possibly door) to fix that?
