Ugh. Playing Icewind Dale 2, which has some pretty fucking labyrinthine puzzles. The only reasonable quality guide I can find sounds like it's written by a fourteen year old kid who is trying way too hard to impress the reader, and it's beginning to seriously grate on my nerves. Just tell me how to open the one fucking door, kay? That's all I want.

I wonder if there are other games like this itching for a better guide. Whether or not review writing would ever go over well for me, I don't know, but writing guides? Hmm.

As said, writing a guide shouldn't be too hard as long as you don't omit details. Like, don't just say to do something, say where, when, how and possibly why.

@Hanslanda: Which door is it? I can see if I can remember what to do.

It's the exit from the Dragon's Eye. It's a metal door sealed via hydraulics of some sort at the bottom of the third level of the Dragon's Eye volcano.

Hnn, man. Looking at a map helped remind me a bit of the area (it's been so long). Honestly, I did a brief search and there should be four fountains in each corner of the map that you have to poison, that'll open the hydraulic door. I think the one in the lower right corner is behind a hidden door.

Edit: This might help a bit. This states something a bit different, but it makes more sense in my head.

But do you know them all?

Random trope button will be your end!
1. Yep.
2. Not touching that thing, but I've visited before.

Fun fact: they decided to make the random trope button a button instead of a link. I had to use Firefox's Inspect Element to get the link.

ALL THAT EFFORT, AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN CLICK IT.

My life doesn't have much to ruin anyway. Mostly because I went through a felt 90% of the site a few years ago.

Hells, I don't even visit trope pages because I already know what they contain. Which,I guess, should change because Angry Laser Space needs desperately more wicks.

Elephant, you fail to realise that people tend to go through 50% of the site in one sitting. Also, people gain a resistance to TVtropes over time.

Yeah... There really isn't anything interesting to me there anymore. No one puts any new examples and any interesting article that could possibly have any sort of debate usually doesn't allow examples.

...why would you read a wiki for the debates?

If it provides some good debates, why wouldn't you read the good ones?

But yeah, TVTropes never really hooked me. Maybe five of its tabs open at once in the past, once or twice, and generally that was its recommendation stuff (some of which point to some pretty good reads!) or individual media whatsits rather than actual trope pages. It still pops up decent pages on fanfiction and whatnot, occasionally, so I do still pop in every once inna' while.
