Ah shit, I need to dive down a coal mine and only leave to work in a factory.
I shall perfect the art of only being comprehensible for people who live in a half-mile radius of where I live.

Of the games I bought during the Steam Sales, only Long Live the Queen and Audiosurf are playable. The Witcher 2 is unplayably laggy, Dark Souls' control scheme is obnoxious without a controller (which I don't have) and requires a login I refuse to create, and Dishonored finds a new way to crash every time I solve the previous crash.

I'm glad I waited until the sales. I expected to have problems with a few, since my hardware is behind the times a bit, but good lord.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

With Dark Souls, there quite a popular KB+M mod, and I found the game definitely worthwhile once I'd passed those issues.

While yesterday was quite nice, meeting up with all my uni friends and reenrolling for next year, the cycle home most assuredly was not.

  • Sailors on shore leave all over Melbourne Wharf. I think. They were respectful and polite and got out of the way of the oncoming cyclists (It's a common route taken by cyclists travelling from Footscray into the South East). That's not the bad part.
  • Drunken girlfriends of said sailors walking and darting in and out of the bicycle lane, that is clearly signed BICYCLES ONLY. Cyclists usually average about 30km/h there, and there's a clear split between the bike lane and the footpath, which is itself three times the width of both bike lanes combined, yet they felt the need to walk there. They ignored my bell, and every other cyclist ahead of and behind me.
  • Some bogan girl with bleached hair and orange skin, with her roided up boyfriend who changed direction, walking through a bike lane near the Exhibition Centre, again, clearly marked BICYCLES ONLY. I slammed on my brakes, and i'm glad that they're v-brakes that actually work well. Both brakes went on, but I went up on one wheel and teetered for a second before regaining my balance. Other cyclists behind me followed suit quickly. Bogan girl screeched "ya fucking ranga cunt" and her roided up boyfriend said nothing but appeared pissed off. Gee, I'm sorry, would you have preferred me to run you down?
  • 50m on from that, bunch of shoppers walking in the narrow bike lane. Bell didn't do shit. One of them decided to choose that exact moment to scream as shrilly as she could when me and two other cyclists were passing, just out of bloodymindedness - she clearly knew we were there and didn't want to move. Naturally, we got startled. I shouted back "See where it says BIKE LANE? it's clearly signed."
  • 25m on from that, a bunch of thick-necked 15 year olds shouted "NOICE FAKKIN BIKE RANGA CUNT". Ugh. I don't usually get that sort of crap in the city, so why yesterday?
Whenever people are assholes to me while I'm biking, I just give them the bird without boterhing to turn my head.

I did that too to the last ones.

Oh, I also forgot to add that the only wide ticket entryway at Flinders St was closed in my direction, so i could try the narrow ones with my bike and carry it over my head or go around another km. i carried it over my head, because hulk

I swear if this is another one of those things you import to the rest of the world, I will never forgive you America.

I CAN'T TELL WHETHER YOU'RE ASKING A QUESTION OR NOT. ALL THE TIME.

Like, you know, when like, people are like, making statements that like, are actually questions? Like, isn't that like so annoying. It's like they can't understand, like, how punctuation works?
However, the whole "like" thing is actually really, really hard to avoid picking up when everyone you know does it. I use the word "like" in speech despite trying not to.

Agreed on the question thing, though. How can people keep making that mistake.
I managed to break out of using "like" by replacing it with just not saying anything and pausing if I need to think. It sounds a lot better overall.

I heard about that and considered getting Dark Souls on a steam sale, but then I remembered my steam files were in my program files folder, which means windows quietly and unavoidably rolls back any changes the user makes.  So installing mods is a bit iffy for me.

I appear to have deleted about a week's worth of work when I reinstalled Windows. I was sure I backed that file up, but it's nowhere to be found.

This is what I do. People seem to think you're more intelligent if you just say nothing instead of saying, "Um." Or "Like...".

I've been sleeping so damn badly lately, and I've no idea why.
I don't want to be permanently tired. Tonight/this morning I haven't gotten to sleep at all. I'm not hungry, not cold, it's not too bright or noisy or anything... But I can't sleep.

And when I do sleep, I have all sorts of dramatic bloody dreams and wake up tired anyway.

I'm just so fucking angry these last few days. It's insane. EVERYTHING keeps making me angrier. Nothing I do alleviates it. I don't want to play any games, they just piss me off. I only want to talk to one person, who, thankfully, does want to talk to me. This is about the only good thing going on right now. I'm starting to really hate my job and most of the people there. I hate the area I'm living in. It's such a shit hole. I can find no redeeming qualities to it anymore. I'm tired of it.

Thankfully, most of this will change within the next few years. I'm moving farther south, and getting a new job. A very well paying, very hands-on job.
