Tsk, tsk. All this table-flipping going on. It is most uncouth.

Quite.

Everything I do well I did through hard work and the correct attitude.

Everything I don't do well just wasn't worth my time.

Everyone else who doesn't do stuff well just wasn't trying hard enough.

Everything in this post except this line was a sarcastic lie.

Everything I do well I did through hard work and the correct attitude.

Everything I don't do well I have't practiced enough.

I do well in things I do well because I have no life. I can spend all day practicing one thing or another. This is how I get good at things. My brother has the same situation. He's an incredible (marching) drummer, especially for a high schooler. He is at that level because he practices 6 hours a day, one hour of which is under guidance for proper technique.

He's better than most of his peers after one year of work due to his constant, incessant practice. I'm as good as I am at Dwarf Fortress modding because I've spent two years doing it incessantly with guidance from people like narhiril, good at music due to school combined with huge amounts of practice at home.

If I do the same with art and handwriting, being taught by someone who's good at it combined with practicing on my own time, it will be the same. There is nothing I can't do if I practice enough.

I want to punch every single person responsible for my physical education in the last eleven years in the brain. Turns out it's not that I can't run (because my immune system goes apeshit and makes me try to choke on my lungs), it's that I can run quite well without the former problem for quite a while longer, provided I do it right.

As it turns out, I've been using an absurdly inefficient technique (I could fucking WALK to my destination faster, although I walk very fast) and throughout eleven years of PE none of the teachers bothered to actually teach (90% of the time it was 'here's a ball, go play soccer').

Provided it's a thing that it's possible to improve at, practice guided toward useful skills will always lead to improvement. Some people improve more readily in some areas than others, and improvement may not be to a level such as "competent" in a reasonable timeframe. Nevertheless, it is an absolute necessity to practice in order to become skilled, even for the naturally talented, and practicing something you're not talented at is not exactly a waste of time. Many people give up on practicing prematurely, deciding that it's just something they'll never be good at, but this does not mean that it's actually something they would have become skilled at given the time they have available. Sometimes, you really are going to suck at something for the foreseeable future, but in my experience the only way to learn which things you are going to improve at too slowly is to spend a lot of time practicing. Since you're going to need to devote a lot of time one way or the other, I figure it's not worth worrying about for the first couple of years. Do stuff, worry about whether you're improving enough later.

After all, everybody sucks at everything to begin with.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Speak of your methods. Having to walk 16 kilometers between towns is still in living memory and I must learn proper techniques to make this task easier should that catastrophe ever occur again.

I second this motion.

I don't really know if it's useful for longer distances, it's fast but you cannot evade the energy demands. But anyways: it's a simple thing - knees slightly bent and lean a bit forwards.

The latter is basically using the same thing that makes tall runners have an edge - you let your mass do the work of carrying you forward the former I'm not really sure - probably allows you to make larger steps without having to work against your front leg, but I'm not really sure. Plus, I've been walking like that for a couple of months and IIRC at the start my calves' muscles would hurt a bit, so there's probably some exercise involved.

It is natural. But many people don't do that.

We kinda... Plod along with our heels touching the ground first. Untrained bodies do that because walking like that is more comfortable.

When I run, I tend to use my toes, and I can fast walk by bending my knees and having my body upright and moving as fast as possible. The latter makes me look like an idiot, but it's also pretty quiet.
This is true for me also. Also I always walk in the latter way but slow when I'm inside. No idea specifically why.

I can't jog. Like, I physically can, but my natural "run" motions are to do a full-blown, long-stride, both-legs-off-the-ground sprint.

Same except for walking. It is very hard for me to do a leisure walk, except when I'm idling.

Somekind of blogspot site keeps trying to send me trojans, according to Avast. I'm paranoid now in case some have got through and are busy eating my data, though a scan's turned up nothing.

EDIT: Didn't think it'd make it an automatic hotlink. My bad, removed.
