My brother is a lying asshole :v

Lies to his mum, lies to me, lies to his fucking fiancee!

Plus he's a self-aggrandizing douchebag who thinks he's hot shit. He's working in the trades  as a day laborer (SAYS he's gonna open a contractor business. I'm betting he crashes and burns) and -I- could have done a better job on the drywall patch than he did, because I'd actually fucking MEASURE, score the board instead of just saw at it, and screw the piece in between two wall studs instead of leaving it hanging on one.

Like, seriously, who doesn't measure? YOU HAVE A MEASURING SQUARE, USE IT.

Jesus Christ.

Oh, now it's an odd number! Argh.
Wait, I can fix that.

Ah, that feels better.

......

Wut?

You should have taken pictures and then posted them online to some home repair/construction forums. It's shit like that, which gives all contractors a bad name. That level of craftsmanship deserves to be shamed.

And mind you, what nenjin is talking about is the public universities and colleges. The going rate for my state's largest non-religious private college, Duke University, is $45,000. A year. For tuition alone. You think I'm exaggerating? Think again.

Their fucking room and board is greater than my yearly tuition.

As someone who graduated from Duke in 2007 I can verify this.

I just really hate not being able to do everything.

When we are born, we pretty much suck at everything. Hell, even breathing has to be learned, so you can bet that anything more complicated than that is going to take trial and error. With complex skills, it's going to take significant work over a long period of time... months to get competent, and years to get good.

The key to competence isn't about being lucky enough to be born with some kind of "natural gift". It's about pushing yourself and your limits, and ignoring the fact that you suck right now. Keep at it long enough, and eventually you won't anymore.
